My first Triumph was a 2010 Thruxton that I tried to change up the geometry on to make it more comfortable. Totally get that "cafe racers suck" comment. They are not comfortable!

If you bought your Beemer from a dealer, or get it serviced at one, ask for two or three of the straps that are used to tie down new bikes when they are delivered. They make GREAT straps for keeping your gear in place. Your buddy that has a bike shop should be using Rok-Straps, not bungees, they fail at the worst times. Nice video.

Just brilliant - you have such awesome long rides you can do up there in the US, wish we had the same choices here in New Zealand.

Great video! I plan on doing a similar loop this sept. People love to make fun of riders who spend lots of money on luggage racks, and you can see why with what happened to your friend. Luckily he was ok. DO NOT USE BUNGEES!!!

Loving this random find this morning from London 2018 our honeymoon was a Sierra Nevada road trip to the Burn thanks for the memories !!! BTW holding my finger down on the 2x speed forward kinda improves the sound track 🤔

My current 1200GS has 100,000 miles on it. I’m 75 now and just built a Royal Enfield Interceptor 650 Scrambler. The low 31” seat height makes it easy to mount. Love your BMW!

If you wanted to know whether that is a real GS, you should have put on your latest Klim gear and drove it to Starbucks, where you would have waxed poetically about $20k of upgrades and acessories you made to your bike for about 45 minutes, and then back to the climate controlled garage. Once you amd your bike survive that great adventure, you have earned the right to the very prestigious "real GS owner" title. But seriously, that was a great video. About 20 years ago I had the same thing happen to me, where my bag got stuck in a wheel and I highsided going xxx mph on a TL1000S. 7 days in a hospital. Took me 7 years to get back on the bike again. Back to exploring those Cali roads. I will have to check out Dave's shop next time I am riding that way.

Haha I know what you mean, but I am envious of your whereabouts as well. My wife and I were married in Scotland! - I would love to rent a bike and do the North Coast 500 one day, unfortunately my Scotland motorcycle rental experiences so far were less than spectacular. We rented a little Royal Enfield to ride around Edinburgh and it got stolen on our first night, from right outside our hotel room lol
