Fusion surgery...the best decision I made. For most people, the surgery will be inevitable, as the arthritic condition of the joint continues to deteriorate with time. Just ensure you have the very best surgeon for the job.

Thank you - you are amazing! Such easy to understand explanations. I have had pain for over 12 months and the surgery in in Oct 2023 totally overlooked the spur on the tibia. It was just done by a different (better) surgeon in Aug 2024 and I'm expecting relief.

Hey! I’m having an zadek osteotomy on my right foot in a few weeks. I’ve also had the other procedure on my left foot after rupturing my Achilles 5 years ago.

My concern is longer term complications. Could surgery of this nature will effect movement patterns and potentially cause problems elsewhere such as knees, hips and back. The studies presented are only a short term response. I have big toe arthritis and am very worried about this.

You may add volleyball as sport but with no jump. I can play above average in a team of young players. Even I may throw at the basketball hoop, again with no jump and even play in a team. I confirm cycling and swimming with no limits. I do on daily basis 15 minutes of elliptical bike, it is best for fused ankles, at least 6 months since surgery. I have both ankles fused, one is 2 years old and strong the other only 1 year since opperation.

Good day! Thank you so much for your videos! You are doing a great job! I have a question for you, if possible. I had an arthrodesis of the right ankle joint 2 months ago. How long does it usually take to stand up? When can you drive a car? Thank you!

Do daily 15-30min elliptical bike or at least cycling to move the blood around and accelerate healing.

I’m terrified of having this surgery. I need this soon too! I have severe fibromyalgia and I’m afraid my whole body will be messed up. The nerves in my foot will hurt. My doctor now will not increase my medication if needed for nerve pain. Ugh. I’m praying for the best outcome. I do know that the minimally invasive surgery are not for severe cases. Some surgeons won’t do them at all.

Hi Guys, I've had an ankle fusion (April 2023). My CT scan has just come back as a partial fusion, is this normal for a healthy 34yr old male? When should it fully fusion. The pain is probably the worst It's ever been

The more lisfranc injury videos I see, like this one, the better it helps to understand the significance of this joint for foot stability and mobility.
@m.taylor

This is by far the best explanation of lisfranc injuries I've come across it really helps me to visually understand my injuries. I have metatarsal fractures AND a chip fracture on the medial cuneiform and it has been over a week since my cast was removed , but I still have pain in the foot and there is a big gap between my 1st and 2nd toe but the doc won't do a follow up CT scan to check the healing of the chip fracture. He only relies on xrays. They also did not mention a ligament tearing.

@@dreams5x208 Your doc is supposed to tell you how much it has healed, how much weight bearing to start with and refer you to a physiotherapist who can help. If he has given you the okay to bear weight on your foot, I would initially use crutches as a support. There are videos on KZfaq showing how to do this and gradually taper off crutches.

@@kayleysea1i'm 32 and had an ankle fusion 10 months ago. It hurts so much to walk just short distances. Even with shoes that have a rocker sole. I did not have any other option but I hate it. I have a really bad limp and that makes my other ankle hurt, as well as my hip and back..

Thank you for the invitation to ask you a question. I tore my Achilles 6 years ago, did a lot of soccer in between, and ruptured it now again (playing soccer). I got the info that the two ends of the rapture can't grow together very well because of the scar tissue of the first rapture (6 years ago)? Is that true.

Play sports my entire life. Ruptured my achilles 5 weeks ago, playing in a basketball league. First injury I have ever had. I am 38 years old. However, I am not a professional athlete. Although I am very active in sports, I decided to NOT go the surgery route. Having a little less "explosion" or athleticism at my age and level is not that big of a deal. It still sucks knowing that it will not be worth me ever playing competitive basketball again. My passion and main sport for 30+ years. But, I will still stay active and hopefully recover mentally!

I had a football injury where a stud penetrated my boot and left a hole in my foot. Doctors said it was shattered metatarsals of the 5th and Lis Franc. Had a ORIF. Took about 16 weeks to get fully weight bearing. About 8 months later I was playing again. It was a bit numb with pins and needles at the start but now I have 0 issues with it, no pain, no discomfort. Practically back to normal and full mobility.

My issues with my ankle started when I was 15 with like in gym I just started limping one day. People would ask me why do you limp 1 hr to the next & I couldn't answer it. Played football in hs & collegiatally so for 8 yrs I learned to live with it via torendol. Had surgery at 22 fixed for 10yrs but now im 50 & have struggled with pain for last 5yrs with electing to not take pills.. 2 kids in college so I can't afford surgery please advise..

I just want no pain. Its constant. Whether Im walking or have my foot raised at any angle. I honestly thought Id broken my foot a few weeks ago. The shooting pain was horrid. This prompted me to go to the doctor who sent me for an xray. This showed I have quite advanced osteoarthritis and will by pass all the easier options and go straight to surgery. I do have a high pain threshold, but I will be glad to have little to no pain soon. Obviously Im prepared for the initial post op pain.

I ruptured my achilles tendon and was told by the hospital it was a sprain and was given a course of naproxen and was told I should recover within a week. I went back to the hospital two and half weeks later and had an ultrasound that confirmed the rupture. I'm currently recovering and currently at the 7week mark non surgical. My last physio appointment my foot gave a positive reaction after the pinch/Thompson test, but I'm still concerned as I still have a dip in my tendon.

this is not really helpful because you talk about difficulty rather than Pain!! the reason most people do the bone fusion is to get rid of pain...like me. im hoping my surgery will let me get back out there to play beach volleyball pain free. I dont care if its more difficult. Ill keep you posted, had surgery a month ago and already feel so much better.

As much as I'd love to return to Football (Soccer) for fun I don't feel like I can risk a re-rupture. I've only just begun to return to the gym. I've had so many injuries from fractured bones to hernias and a bunch in between but this injury was the worst recovery for me, mentally as well as physically. I'm glad that so many are returning to sport and it does feel like a lot of progress has been made in terms of recovery from an Achilles Tendon Rupture. I'd be intrigued as to what ages those in the study were.

@YoiAmGucci
@YoiAmGucci 2 ай бұрын
@@HOMAX_ I think it depends on the level you were playing at and your age. Have you recently ruptured your tendon? Follow the advice of leg raises to do your best to minimize the calf muscle wasting away. Unfortunately it still needs a lot of work to catch up with your healthy leg. I'm 9 months later from this injury and probably could play again but not risking another 4-5 month injury lay off.

U know what’s worse? No matter the amount of strengthening, the muscles don’t grow. Lesser proprioception. All caused by a spur that restricts dorsiflexion.
