The inlets and outlets for each pipe, you installed it in the higher side, what is the reason for that?

why do we need the water to flow, we could just as easily fill up the pipes with water and fertilizer and leave it stagnant? I doubt a lot of water will evaporate either way. so why the flow using pump??.
