Menken didn't even acknowledge Terrence Mann's acting. He had to act wearing that freaking costume, under tons of makeup, and still he was able to give the role so much depthness and emotion. Such an underappreciated actor.

They should have professionally filmed the full show with Terrence Mann for release, it's so infuriating. Also screw the insufferable naysayers, this man is so freaking amazing and he deserved much better. Such an incredibly talented underrated actor. I despise this industry.

There should have been a professional recording of this show with Terrence Mann. They already had the cameramen there for the press reels, why not record the entire show and release later as a dvd and now on streaming?

He is such an underrated actor but so are many, like Harry Groener. Broadway and it's audience hate White men. I so wish I could have seen them, most of the plays they did were before I was born

@@saxongirl2054 I think youtube ate my previous reply, but...what are you talking about? 🤣 Hollywood loves a white man. Too much. It's run by white men. It's why getting decent representation for all the rest of us has been such a slog and why people, well-meaning I'm sure, are so hateful when we talk about it.

Year after year I have to say this is the best Disney has ever done. Even if they dismissed for the awful live film, this song is everything is powerful and emotional and a whole climax.

I much rather have Terrence Mann over anyone else. What Disney should have done was a professional video recording of the original cast for release like Into The Woods did.

Patina is extremely talented, but something is missing. I'm not getting the build up of sheer panic in the leading player "failing" to get Pippin to follow the LP's demands. She's coming across as just pissed. Ben Vereen's chilling portrayal was a master class of sinister manipulation and deception, and ultimately, failure.

Doing this musical for my highschool and I haven't had the chance to actually view the ending (we're far from over with the rehearsals) and I got actual goosebumps watching this. I read it all in the libretto I just never got the chance to truly view it until now.

I have to say, as a recent and enthusiastic Terry Mann appreciator, I'm so grateful for every bit of media you've uploaded and shared! Especially the highlights (lol) of this film as it seems entirely unavailable anywhere else now. I know my friends and I have had a lot of fun watching this video amongst the others. Love and respect!

In the two versions I've seen(film version and a magnificent performance by a local high school drama club), the actual ending of the show was Pippin , Catherine, and the boy standing on the stage; Catherine asks Pippin how he felt at that moment Pippin looked at the audience, paused for a moment, then said "TRAPPED!" All three threw up their hands, and said "TAH-DAA!" And the show was over

This is a nice show but I prefer the 1973 finale. Pippin (and anyone else) will never be totally happy whatever he does. So pick a lane and do your best with what you have. "Nothing ever turns out the way you hoped"

That entrance is just amazing! For the first five minutes of this video you're watching people perform Les Mis on Broadway - then Terrence Mann shows up and you are watching Javert on the streets of 19th-century Paris. He completely embodies the role and it's a little bit terrifying.
