There are a bunch of different Collegiate Collection sets. The most popular one is the North Carolina Tar Heels set because Michael Jordan is in it 4 times. But Magic Johnson beats him because he's in the Spartans set 6 times! So your odds were pretty good at getting a Magic Johnson card. It appears that there are sets for 14 different schools.

Looks like that pack might have been resealed because it was so difficult to open. The word you were searching for about the Barons is that they merged with the North Stars. That photo of Dan Bouchard was during pregame warmup or prior to the start of a period. Every goalie wore a mask by that time. The last one who didn't was Andy Brown, in 1973-74 with the Penguins and then for 3 years in the WHA after that. Hope you're still alive after the gum!

That's a Kevin Stevens rookie card. It was a big seller back in the day (I worked in a card store from 1991 until it went out of business in 1995). Then he suffered a serious injury and got messed up with drugs and his career was never the same.

Guy Carbonneau, not Charbonneau. Sleigher = Slay-guhr, Richard Sevigny =Ree-shard Sev-in-yee. It's interesting that Steve Christoff is shown in an airbrushed North Stars jersey even though his most recent team prior to the Kings was the Flames. It's even more interesting because Topps and OPC had already pictured him as a non-airbrushed North Star and the North Stars was his 1st NHL team, so there wouldn't be a need to airbrush him into a North Stars jersey. I wonder if I thought about that 40 years ago when I got that card in a pack. But it's not as strange as when Topps and OPC showed Jacques Lemaire in 1974-75 as a member of the Sabres, even though he spent his entire career with the Canadiens!

Rick Vaive rhymes with hive, not gave. I believe he held the Leafs' record for goals in a season (54) until Auston Matthews showed up and obliterated his record

Daniel Marois = Mar-wah. Speaking of big hockey news, the Canadiens got Patrick Laine from your Blue Jackets! I watched his press conference. He sounds like he's got his life back on track. I'm hoping for lots of goals from him this season!

Denis Herron is pronounced Den-ee Hair-on. For Trottier, a better pronunciation would be Trot-chay instead of Trot-ee-ay. I don't know if you've mentioned Mark Messier yet, but that would be similar. It would be Mess-yay instead of Mess-ee-ay. That's it for tonight. I should be all caught up in a day or two.

It's Denis Savard who has a rookie card in 81-82. Serge Savard's rookie card was from 69-70!

Richer is pronounced Ree-shay. Everyone pronounces Claude as Clod, but it's actually Cload (rhymes with toad). For Wamsley, the Wam part is pronounced like Tom, as opposed to wham. And Gillies has a hard G sound and rhymes with Phillies (Gill-eez).

You should have gotten a glossy insert card (part of a 22-card set) because those were supposed to be one per pack. So, either it was a factory error or it was a searched pack and the person who resealed it forgot what was supposed to be in the pack. Or maybe you just dropped that card on the floor and never noticed!

Lucien Deblois = Loo-syen Deb-loo-wah, Ververgaert = Ver-ver-gart and Polis is pronounced the way it's written, Po-lis, not Poo-lee. I'll stop now, it's getting late!

Gilles is pronounced similar to Jill, but the J sound is a little softer than how it's pronounced in English, if that makes any sense. Meloche is pronounced Muh-losh. And as someone already mentioned, Shutt is shut, not shoot. He was a great goal scorer for the Canadiens back in the day, playing on the same line as Lafleur.

I remember one of Mike Liut's first games in the NHL was on Hockey Night in Canada vs. the Canadiens and broadcaster Bob Cole had no idea how to pronounce his name and even said so on the air. He thought it was pronounced Lie-it instead of Lee-oot. So you've got something in common with a hall of fame broadcaster! Also, Bob Sauve is So-vay and both MacLeans that you mentioned are pronounced Mac-lane instead of Mac-leen.

Your 200th subscriber (me) just watched your 100 subscriber special (and a bunch of other videos). The 1st pack of hockey cards I ever bought was 1971-72 OPC. I brought 10 pennies to the store, but when I got there, I only had 9 but the guy let me have the pack for 9 cents instead of 10!

Awesome Marcel Dionne. He was the biggest hockey star when I was a kid growing up in LA. I have no idea why people grade packs other than it is authenticated that it has not been tampered with like Baseball Card Exchange does. I have a small baseball card pack collection, but only a wrapper collection for hockey packs. A few more closer to 200 subscribers!

If you dont know the story of Clint Malarchuk and his neck injury its worth reading it. The video is disturbing, but the story is incredible.

Nice pack - The goaltenders of that era and prior were warriors... very little padding on their upper bodies. Also agree on the grading of packs. I have yet to see anyone on KZfaq crack one open and actually finding anything more than a minor star.

What a great pack of cards - lots of great players (I believe I also have that same Gary Suter rookie card). Imho, if not for injuries, Tim Kerr would have went down as one of the greatest scorers in NHL history.
