Networking is such a specialized skill it isn't surprising that so many networks are badly configured. I worked at a company that used routing processes as a substitute for VRF. It was madness.

Hi, speaking of Design, how DC core should be connected to Campus core? For example: there is location where users are sitting and also Data Center, and we need to interconnect Campus Core (catalyst switches) and DC Core (nexus switches). Interconnection between Nexus and Catalyst should be L3 with some sort of routing protocol running between them or it should be L2 with VLANs spanning between between them? And if answer is "it depends", could you please bring use cases for both designs?

The new IOL-XE (both L2 and L3 images) inside CML 2.7 are really very light, but I think it lacks some features if you compare it to IOSv-L3 and IOSv-L2. So, I don't think you can use it completely as replacement for IOSv-L3, but maybe you can mix and match, in the same topology you can use both images to make as big topology as you want and at the same time it won't need a lot of resources. But of course you can check IOL-XE and maybe it has all features you need. Generally, from my experience IOSv-L3 and IOSv-L2 are not very resource hungry. The most important, please don't use CSR 1000v 🙂
@Skyline_NTR10 күн бұрын
IOL-XE seems interesting, though haven't been able to find a complete IOL-XE (and L2) vs IOSv (and L2) feature comparison chart, other than lacking in programmability features, some funky L1 behavior with ports being down/up or up/up.
@alik594211 күн бұрын
Please use /30 between devices whenever possible and whenever it's correct by design, in that case the topology feels more realistic. Staged approach which you want to use for CCDE / Real world networking is a great idea. What I'd like to see it's something like greenfield deployment, when you build everything from the scratch: switching, routing, security (firewall, all kind of vpn, etc.), wireless, load balancers, SP, DC, etc.

Could you please help me out...I am trying to replicate the campus design in EVE-NG, the three tier network design that you portrayed in this video and I would like your advice as to which network devices I am to put at each each Layer - Access, Distribution and Core. Should I go with the iosvl2 image for access and distribution and perhaps iosv l3 or Nexus for Core?! I have a dedicated server, so processing power and memory should not be a problem. Cheers!

That is a wild sentiment regarding the self lab building. I feel that the prebuilt labs don't save time when building "complicated" technologies. It is so much nicer to understand all the pieces involved as you inevitably build upon the basic operation.

May you please talk in your next video about ISP-to-ISP communication and between them is multiple ISPs? As in how the traffic would go - the multiple ISP rings (if I may say) and so? You’re welcomed to go of tangents. Its an interesting idea that its all ISP rings with no “core” or “backbone” if that makes any sense.
