Humid air transfers heat away from the coils much faster than dry air, so I want to give every opportunity for the condensation to evaporate. My next version will include some carefully chosen sponge or cloth to catch the condensation near the air intake maximizing this humidity effect as well as taking maximum advantage of "evaporative cooling" the air that is just about to cross the condenser coils. This dripping condensation is also very cold water so catching it near the air intake with a large sponge will use this byproduct of cooling three different ways before it is expelled onto the ground. Every calorie counts when cooling a tin can with windows in direct sunshine.

👍 Thanks, I'll be keeping an eye out on this. I'm new to my 06 View (2005 chasis) and don't have anything to compare to as far as lagging, any way to know without using an Autel (on the way) or similar by just driving? If I missed it in the video, sorry.

There are a few ways to tell if your van is effected, but they all require a compatible code reader and EGR value is by far the simple way. Others require calculating for sea-level, dirty air filters etc.

Bill I wonder if this is my issue with feeling sluggish in hot weather? I did the resistor thing and it runs great for 15 min or so then no boost? No codes either. Just no boost. I need to plug in AUTEL and look at this.

And yes turning off and back on reset my limp. Then again in about 15 min. Removing resistor all normal. But why does resistor work so well on some vans?

When the EGR value stays at 6% the EGR is not asked to open up. A long as it is not asked to do anything the resistor appears like an EGR. As soon as the van tries to open the EGR and air flow does not change at the MAF, a code will pop with limp mode. There should be a code.

Nice bird songs at beginning. Helpful to know to monitor egr % live, I have Autel diagnostic tool so can perform this. Don't know how to check if T21 recall was performed. Thanks for the difficult to film and edit video.

Look at the module data. The version number will start with a 9 if the T-21 is completed.

Another great video! I’m still trying to get the 2002 started put in a new cam sensor still turns over but no start going to replace crank sensor this week as the tach doesn’t move when first turns over. Previous owner did tell me he had to splice wires together that are on inside of engine compartment just below windshield on driver side that’s my next thing to check!

Any tips on where to source the three bolts between the turbo and exhaust manifold. Broke one during the removal process and having a tough time finding a replacement.

Almost any 8mm manifold stud and nut will do fine. After searching long and hard and paying through the nose I realized they are almost identical to the ones at every parts store. The unthreaded center section is slightly different length, I forget which was shorter. And it was off-center in the Mercedes OEM's, but it didn't matter one bit. I test-fitted to be certain the length of both threaded ends were sufficient and the unthreaded center was not going to interfere in any way.

Nice van, i'm wondering why do recommend to change the turbo resonator if it is in a good condition? I have a perfectly running plastic turbo resonator , do you recommend to change it?

My OEM resonator just failed at 180K+ miles. I replaced it with a Dorman plastic. Should have gone aluminum. A fifth the price and done.

They are easier to change at home and once aluminum is installed it will never be a problem. Don't over-pay! I buy them in bulk and give them to new members* at events. I can ship one as a member perk if you join with annual payment and message me saying you want one.

Howdy Florida Van Man and everyone else! I've got a 2005 T1N dodge sprinter 2500 and it has that lock unlock, lock unlock lock symptom. With mine the passenger door and passenger side sliding door wont lock when I try and lock the van using the fob or central locking button on the dash. I have to physically unlock and lock them with a key or from inside the cab. I tried all the methods in your video inlcuding thorouhgly cleaning all of the contacts, do you have any other recommendations for me to try? Not sure if this is helpful at all but the inside door panel for the passenger sliding door is a wood panel so the previous owner definitely replaced the original cloth/vinyl panel, this is a passenger style van.

If everything is lubricated and the door handle twitches but doesn't lock/unlock, the locking drive motor is likely tired and needs replaced.

Regarding your comments at the end, isn't moving up to 2000 RPM, and thus no longer "idling," solving those issues? Or is it that the engine needs to be at those RPM and under significant load (more than charging a house battery) to solve those issues? It seems to me that your concerns are exactly why you would install a high-idle kit.

Raising the idle without adding a load is still "idle", just a higher idle. It still presents all but one of the troubles with extended idle, and faster!

What year is that e320? I have a 2008 e320 and a 2005 t1n! Do you know the torque value of the drain plug on the 320? I stripped mine a few oil changes ago and I’m gunshy now. The dealer sold me the esp 5w-30 for my T1n several years back before the prices went crazy there. So I use it for the 320 and T1n based off of their recommendations.

2005 and the book says 25Nm for the drain plug. No way I'm-a-gonna try to get that tight!!! 12Nm is fine.... prove me wrong. LOL

I think I've posted it before, yes you have saved me time and will again, sadly I'm on a fixed income that is not keeping up with the ghastly inflation, I may have to sell my beloved Sprinter ex Ambulance. :( I will have to replace the “Indicator /flasher/ wiper module” as High beam died with the stick on that position. Good choice. The 200amp aftermarket alternators produced in the last 18 months or so have had problems with the pulley no aligned with the belt line.

The magnets will grab some fuel handle hardware becoming a mild nuisance, holding the door and obstructing our attempt to grab the handle. The rusty magnets shown had been on the door originally, but I moved them to the van days or weeks after putting them on the door. I didn't get around to covering with caulk for a couple years, so the magnets on the door must have been a real inconvenience driving me to action so quickly. :)
