The EARTHSHOCK Cybermen are my favourites from S19. The Terileptils are also impressive - as is their robot (minus the bejewelled cricket gloves). The Plasmatons are at the bottom. Lol.

I am a huge fan of the books and loved this series as a kid. Watching as an adult, the sad fact is the series is incredibly tedious and the acting is mostly terrible. And I waited YEARS to get this DVD on release! One of the very best theme tunes ever, tho’.

I was so pissed. Our PBS affiliate ran the first season back in the day but did not show the second. Definitely have to pick this up.

@@raymondstpaul6474 I was in Tulsa, OK. They ran Monty Python and Dr. Who. I had no idea there had been a second season. PBS affiliate didn't pick up Season 2.

It was a slow series that could have been condensed less filler an more story. I think a remade should be considered.

A remake should be considered. There were a few filler episodes which felt off, but going from the books and keeping the tripods aesthetics would be cool.

It was full of filler, because they could not afford, nor realise the effects of the Tripods very well. So they brought in the "Black Guards" who are not in the books at all, to realise the threat and represent their power on screen. The books are utter classics. The tv series is dreadful, the BBC were just not up to the job of making it at all. Ratings were low and it was axed after series 2. There were far too many changes from the books story as well. Far too many. To this day I view it as one of the worst book adaptations I have ever seen. Its up there with Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban for what is changed, skipped or left out entirely. The show should have been a a mini series of 5 or six hour long episodes. Some fans could get together and do a version of it now with CGI Tripods and it would look better than what the BBC could manage back in the 80s.

@@Simon-xc5oy I agree having read the books [I got a used book haven't found them in digital for my Kindle] it is totally different presented stories than the TV show was a totally messed up opportunity. I saw this on PBS affiliates [Public Broadcasting Station] an kept thinking to myself 'Why are the main characters constantly running?" though I knew the reason; it felt like a filler of the week routine. The Tripods rarely seen doing anything it left me frustrated waiting for something to happen. I think what got me first interested in the series was the cool intro music that got me hooked into watching the show...much to my disappointment. I still think a miniseries reboot would be something to consider.

Should never have moved the show from Saturdays to weekdays and also showing two episodes a week as this meant the season lasted three months instead of six. Often wonder if they kept it the same as Hartnell to Baker mk1 whether the turbulent times the show went through in the mid - late eighties could have been avoided.

Remembrance was the first Doctor story I watched. I saw all four parts in one Saturday afternoon circa 1991, shown on UNC-TV. Looking forward to this new set, especially since I haven't seen The Happiness Patrol since that time.

It was nearly one of Peter's first-ever roles on television. He was only in his late twenties at the time and he himself has admitted that he took the role on too young, regretting not having played the role a little older. Watch Time Crash or hear his audios, his point is bang on. He sounds great in the role as an older actor.

It was made for ten quid and a packet of Quavers, but it drew ratings any TV series today would kill their grandma for, and was usually 97 times better than the current version of the show. Not always, but Eric Saward hadn't finished kneecapping the show by this point.

Actually the first season of the Fifth Doctor was script edited by Christopher H Bidmead. Personally, I don't rate Saward very much, either. Terrance Dicks wasn't impressed by his work.

@tardis_treasures totally agree. A real pity that Earthshock wasn't the season Finale that year. Time Flight was much too ambitious a script to attempt in 1982 , especially at the end of the season when the money was tight.

The sequence of scenes is amusing as well as content: downbeat Doctor and Adric in trouble, then the Doctor says the regeneration is failing (so why bother watching?) with Adric next to him, then we see Tegan and Nyssa laughing at the console.

Yeah, the Master gets off in his TARDIS at the end of "Logopolis". Could easily have escaped to face the Doctor another day. And "Castrovalva" could easily have had 5th deal with some other foe for his debut story. But then I suppose it does conclude a trilogy long story arc which began with "The Keeper of Traken" dealing with the Master's return.
