Ok so here’s the thing, I’m a Gen-Xer and if anything there used to be more remakes and more importantly those remakes accounted for a larger percentage of film and television. You’re just further away from things like The Fugitive and The Untouchables and Mission Impossible being hit TV shows so feel like ‘originals’ rather than remakes.

Come on, DJ, you know as well as I do you'll be seeing Beetlejuice 2 when it comes out. If you're really a fan of the first one, there's no way you're passing that up lol. Speaking of, what's the big deal with Lydia having the same style she had as a teen? Somehow I have a feeling that if she had a different style in the new one, you'd be complaining it's inconsistent with the character. Also, what the hell is wrong with Eddie Murphy doing Beverly Hills Cop 4 at his age? What's that have to do with anything? If he's still in good shape and still handle the action, then so what? He's actually 63, by the way, not 56. And I'm pretty sure those psycho soldiers with the mass grave and those guys at the gas station in Civil War are prime examples of people who wanted the war to happen, so to say Alex Garland is ignoring that is simply inaccurate. As far as which apocalypse is ideal enough for us to survive in, I'll agree with you on the zombie one. Humanity wouldn't have much of a chance in those other scenarios.

Two things: 1) I’ll never forget/forgive the “Dawn of the Dead” reboot credits for scaring me into the realization that the horror never ends in these apocalyptic scenarios 2) For the option of being in space my mind instantly went to that CW show “The 100” where it’s a nuclear apocalypse but like less than 10% of population went to live on a space station that orbited the earth. In the show the major issue that kickstarts the plot is that the space station is running out of oxygen(and I think food).

I'm a huge fan of the original planet of the apes movies and i like the reboot series as well. Liked this movie alot. Probably my favorite of the reboots. And its funny you mentioned the premonition see things before they happened powers in the trailer for kingdom. Marvel comics currently has the planet of the apes rights in comic form and they just recently came out with a 4 issue mini series, to try to capitalize on there being an apes movie in theaters. I'm probably one of ten people who read the series and it is a prequel to the og 1968 planet of the apes. Its about ziras nephew lucious being abducted by an unknown gorilla tribe and Cornelius and zira go into the forbidden zone looking for him. They meet nova and stumble upon the mutant humans one of which has mental premonition powers. I wonder if they took that line from the trailer and threw it in this book to try to tie in to the movie not knowing that it was in a different context in the film. Funny stuff 😂

Planet Of The Apes is the best Apocalypse! Mad Max is just depressing... What are people fighting for anymore? Everything is desert and all the people are shitty and violent.

I almost avoided seeing The New Mutants altogether because of Bobby’s Whitewashing controversy that original Roberto artist Bob tried to launch comics reader led boycott over the film. I eventually watched it on Hulu because I figured “I’m not _technically_ paying the New Mutants director and casting people for this by paying monthly for Hulu”, and fucking fell asleep because even when the horror stuff was getting very prominent, I was bored with it. It couldn’t really go 100% on the horror because they didn’t get to have any reshoots, and apparently Murdoch’s Fox would never dream of paying the actor of Roberto millions of dollars to compensate him for recasting a Afro Brazilian actor for Roberto, because that’s what an bigoted old white man like Rupert likes to see in his movies, and Disney spent too much to buy the studio to spend that kind of money on a film the rest of the superhero movies they make will ignore.

Am I the only person who liked The Gifted. It wasn't like best show ever but for what it was it was pretty good. I always had a fan theory that The Gifted was what lead to the Days of Future Past bad future.

I'm really glad that this show exists because it finally got me to watch all the movies I skipped or put off and rewatch movies I loved. I hope you guys keep going with X-Men based shows or even look back at the pre-MCU movies that aren't Spider-Man or X-Men (maybe call it The Marvel Knights Roundtable?)
