My shank is definitely from open club face. My divot starts wide and goes to a point. This happens on fairways that are tight and slightly soft. Not on longer grass. Any drills I could try please?

Need this. Getting to my left side has left me and I think this will help. Padraig Harrington discusses this same "bounce" move to get back to left side and stay down and through.

This never works for me it never feels like a good strike with the heel raised it always feels like a miss hit and I’m pretty good wedge player I prefer the 54 or 58

Kerrod, thank you for this timeless reminder about standing over the ball. I’ve adopted your approach and it seems to help. One question please. Does this approach apply to all clubs, including driver ? Thanks.

I use this swing method , basically just bring the lead arm down and through and let the club follow , ive gone from 130 8 irons to 150 without any real effort and no manipulation , ive been doing this since spring and its stood the test of time that most fixes don’t . Im currently trying to get the same feel into my driver with mixed results , i am struggling mostly with very high face shots and if i get the ball more forward i can fade or pull a bit more than i like , its getting better and i will keep plugging .👍

I have stopped thinking about positions and just focus on one swing thought. I recently started playing so badly and had to review what I was doing. I realised that I was getting way too focused on set ideal positions that was actually racking my game. I found a single golf channel that seemed to fit what I was trying to do. Hey presto back into nice consistent golf swing that is nice and repeatable and belongs to me and only me. None of this trying to look like Rory or Tiger. Nice content as usual though and no doubt will help loads of people

Last 2 sessions have been exactly this, specifically trying to do both movements at the same time instead of letting my shoulders start. This was a life saver!

Whenever I hear about having the hands forward at address, depending on the offset of the clubhead, when you sit the club on the ground with the face square, your hands are already in front of the ball where they should be & there's no need to move them farther forward. I don't use clubs for better players so I don't know if they have much offset that would create this.
@kerrodgraygolf
@kerrodgraygolf 2 күн бұрын
Make sure you use video or a mirror to double check your hands are actually in front. Often the 'feel' isn't 'real'.

OMG this is idiotic. Attempting to performing positions in succession and believing it will teach you how to swing a club properly is absolutely ridiculous.
@mikerodrick2430
@mikerodrick2430 2 күн бұрын
Obviously, it has to be taught in positions for demonstration purposes. If they did it full speed without showing the positions, how could you possibly see it?

@@kerrodgraygolf This approach to teaching golf is what's wrong with golf instruction. Simply mimicking a position will not teach a person how or why they need to get into that position. It's backward thinking. The position itself is not how or what creates a good swing but a result and indication that the player is intending to do the right thing. It's like saying if you can get your arm to torque like a MLB pitcher does, you can be an MLB pitcher too. It's not the torque of the arm that is the key factor it's everything else that created the torque of the arm and without knowing that and attempting to simply torque the arm is futile.

Awesome Kerrod and Kyle this is really different from what I've been watching on the techniques to hit it far (aka vertical GRF on the downswing) makes a lot of sense stretch and squeeze the trail abs/obliques and large ROM of the right (trail) shoulder as it is essentially a throw! I could watch that swing all day!

Truest and most depressing thing Kyle states is that his swing has hardly changed since he was 6 years old! great video tho Everyone at my club lower than my 5hcp started golf as weak kids there's a lesson im that Plus like ive learnt too, they can all bounce a ball on a wedge! most of you watching this video ie over 7 hcp cant! most wont get tat either

No, he really should clarify that this is not for people that are new to the golf swing. Trying to do this will introduce a lot of nasty habits. Wish there was more attention to these sort of details in KZfaq golf world. Where you’re at with with your swing is really important to what kind of drills and mechanics you should be focusing on.

I let my 8-10 year olds try this drill at my summer camp today and had half of them ended up needing medical attention. Told all of them, while visiting in the hospital, how proud I was for the trust they had with their partners. One thing I would add to this video is make sure you are a certain level of skill before trying this with another human being. Thank goodness for insurance. Hopefully my reputation can outlast the backlash.

I’ve heard so many different schools of thought on this. I just bought a driving utility iron, (can’t hit woods very well, so that’s what I use instead) had a lot of trouble hitting it, until I narrowed my stance, and then I was able to hit it pure 🤷‍♂️. Did it really by accident, I was just trying to make contact with a very short backswing, my feet were closer together, weird, and btw, I would have taken all of these shots off the tee on the golf course, 200-208 for yardage , which isn’t much , but straight and in play
@kerrodgraygolf
@kerrodgraygolf 2 күн бұрын
I'll take straight shots all day if it means you're on the fairway! Your narrow stance could be preventing you from swaying off the ball. Whatever it is, keep it up.
@buckyplayz1919
@buckyplayz1919 2 күн бұрын
Pretty sure you’re spot on with the swaying. Bc I was swinging easy, trying to get a nice square, sweet spot club face on the ball. Wasn’t trying to hit it hard. Very relaxed and not tense. 🤷‍♂️
