A guy I went to HS with in the 1970's that never did anything but drink decided to try "drugs" by doing a big line of PCP. I remember being at that party but left before anything f ed up happened. Somehow he got home that night and was freaking out and his parents called the rescue, but two cops showed up also. He was trying to fight the cops and from what they said he tried to grab one's gun. (Back then the cops weren't psycho like they are now). He ended up in a locked ward in a mental hospital for about a week. He told me he went nuts when he was at home in his room and the giant mice attacked him

I have to say that PCP's reputation is a bit undeserved. Most of the crazy stories involving PCP are usually highly exaggerated and involves people who either didn't know they were ingesting it (i.e they got dosed), or were people with pre-existing mental issues who had no business using drugs like PCP, or they just had no idea how to dose it (and therefore massively overdosed). If taken as responsibly as possible it's really not a bad drug. Sure, ketamine is definitely less hallucinogenic at lower doses and even slightly euphoric because of it's antidepressant properties, but I didn't experience them to be that different. Ketamine also hits faster and isn't as long-lasting, but that's pretty unusual with dissociative hallucinogens in my experience. Most of the ones I've tried have been somewhat long-lasting (PCP, 3-MeO-PCP, methoxetamine/MXE, dextromethorphan/DXM). The only analogue I've tried that didn't last very long was deschloroketamine/DXE. Salvinorin A is ofc also very short-lasting, but that's from a different group of compounds altogether. My days of "researching" dissociative hallucinogens is way behind me, but it's still one of my favorite groups of drugs. There's definitely a lot of untapped medicinal potential in these kinds of compounds.
