The Westfield line( nr Thornton,Fife ?) has not been there for decades. The Cameron line is being reinstalled from Leven to Thornton as i type after being closed for many a decade. Brilliant photography of THE BRIDGE. I remember the day when you could go under The Bridge on the Fife side and have picnics. That facility along with the general public is, no longer permitted.

The 47/7 we see propelling a push pull train, at 5:15, is 47714, Grampian Region. In March 1989, this locomotive was denamed, and became the first 47/7 to leave Scotrail, when she went to Stratford, for overhaul and repaint into Network Southeast livery, being allocated to Old Oak Common. A couple of months later, 47705 "Lothian" went the same way.

That was an amazing video. Travelled from Glasgow QS to Arrochar Tarbert yeas ago with a class 37 in attendance. Amazing journey. These beasties look right at home in the rugged countryside. When will we see their like again?

I used to drive these. Was a Secondman/Driver at Haymarket/Waverley between 1980 and 1991. Was a privilege to work in the industry then.

@@thomasshepard6030 Thanks for sharing that Thomas, I have treasured memories of my time on the railway. However by 1991 with the changes leading up to privatisation had had enough and left to go to university. Never looked back.

Edinburgh how I remember it in the 1980s ,Born in 1973 ,Love those classic sounds of Diesel power before Electrification,This was the great times for me with a Notebook and Pen to take down these classic Workhorses info from the Number and Class make to Just watching these Depart and Arrive ,Love the sound of the Paxman Valenta 125 Units aka The Class 43 that have operated since 1976 ,Feel Emotional watching this,And miss Locomotion like this to be replaced since Privatisation,With Boring looking futuristic designs to Hearing these 125 units are now being retired especially without the Paxman Valenta sound , At least I have my memories of growing up with these Locomotives and the Great sound they were remembered for ❤️Dislike today's railways especially these boring Sprinters that have since 1984 or 85 time replaced the Excitement of Classic Traction with more cruder designs from say Europe or Asia to the rails being a right mess ,Bring back these times ❤️

Lovely Footage from back in the day ❤️ When these Diesel units were the norm back then ,Today's generation of Locomotion isn't the same nowadays,Back when I was a boy growing up in the 1980s ,This is what I will remember born 49 years ago ❤️ With Classic Locomotion like this ❤️Since privatisation in the Early 1990s to today ,The railways are a mess with delays here and there ,These are times I will remember with fondness taking down Numbers of the Units passing by if not in Edinburgh but Kirknewton where I would stay at ❤️Love the sound of the HSTs with that screaming Valenta sound ❤️ That's how they should sound ,Hear these also in today's world being retired to history , Remember the good times ❤️😢So much for these having a long fruitful future since 1976 , Without that Paxman Valenta ,It's nothing special nowadays,Just shameful what Privatisation has done 😢

Miss those days ❤️ Born in 1973 , Remember the sound of these classic icons of BR times ❤️ Don't like today's railways,Not like pastimes when people were able to stick their heads out of the Carriages ,Today's generation of Locomotion isn't the same as pastimes with Health and safety standards that are a pain in the rear ,Love the old DMUs also ❤️ Long before Electrification changed the Scottish landscape forever ,These were times I remember growing up as a boy alsorts here from BR Locomotion,The Class 20s ,The Screaming Valenta aka as The 125 ,The old 1950s DMU units I remember using also to get from Kirknewton to Edinburgh or Glasgow.Would love to go back to these times ❤️

Sad time for these classic iconic sounding Units Before Electrification,Love the sound of the Class 26 going through the Scottish Highlands to the Cities ,Towns and Villages ,With that Classic Clag ❤️ Miss these units on the Main line,Fabulous Footage ❤️🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿Born in 1973 ,Got to see these before Privatisation had these removed in the Early 1990s ,Love the classic Clag and Can see a Class 26 or 27 at Bo'ness ,Outside Linlithgow preserved ❤️These were iconic Locomotives,Just sad to know that most of these were victims of the Cutting torch 😢😢😢Not a nice way for something that did well to be victims of changing times and Replaced by These ugly Sprinter two car units that I couldn't stand the sight of in 1984/85 time .

As a native of Lanarkshire that brings back lots of memories. I am old enough to remember the Class 120s starting service on the Queen Street-Edinburgh route in the late 1950s. In the 1980s around the time of this film I travelled to work on the East Kilbride line and occasionally a decanted Class 126 would turn up. They were actually very comfortable but totally clapped out and sometimes struggled to climb the bank between Thornliebank and Giffnock.

I lived in Oban in the mid 1970s and I treasure the memory of the sound of the Class 27s slogging up Glencruitten Bank. Reliability could sometimes be a problem (possibly due to poor maintenance) and on one memorable occasion a train from Glasgow arrived in Oban about three hours late with three Class 27s on it only one of which was working properly!
