Also, must be said I was lost in your gaze.... still please make more content, as it has become very hard for Sicilian -americans to relearn their own tongue. Thank you !!

This helps all the Sicilian Americans with the words they heard very young. However mostly our folk chose to assimilate into America. It is exceedingly rare these days for this.

I wonder if the language correlation with Italy and Sicily is the same as Greece and Cyprus. Both Greece & Italy speak their mainland languages. But both Cyprus and Sicily (being Mediterranean islands) have developed their own island dialects of Greek and and Italian. :)

Can you write the words in Sicilian please? It's hard to hear the actual words. This will help wih sound-spelling correspondances. Is it /kebo?/ or /kevo/? is initial "v" pronounced /b/ in Sicilian?

I'm another person w Sicilian parents who would not teach us the language. So sad. I missed out on so much! I wish I could slow down the video so I could understand it better? Does anyone know how to do that here?

Ho avuto una breve esperienza in Canada e mi è piaciuto tantissimo. In particolare il Quebec. Però mi chiedo: i fiumi di how are you e sorry non è che siano eccessivi se non quasi ipocriti? E poi, io sono già anzianotto ma non credo di essere mai arrivato in ritardo nè in appuntamenti di lavoro nè in quelli di piacere. Sarò italiano anomalo?

Sicilian Grandparents - same as others they wanted us to be “americano” so we didn’t learn the language. It would be helpful if you had the Sicilian written to compare to the Italian. As usual Italians speak Tooo fast! Hope I can get there too someday. Grazie

There are dialects that are different in italy from town to town. So what is the big deal. Just another excuse for social media to dumb us down and control us.

Grazie! LOVE THIS CHANNEL... I spent 6 months learning Italian before my trip to Sicily. (It was a hard switch from Spanish)Let me tell you I didn't expect the huge language barrier due to the dialect. I think my italian would have been understood in the mainland. However they did appreciate my effort. My family has Sicilian roots so I did recognize the inflections and knew some typical phrases ...Google translate was key lol. With the older generation it was tough. I hope to live there in the next few years...the only way is immersion!
