Compared to normal or everyday English expressions, I would say Sicilian has a sharper edge emotionally, sometimes taunting, even a bit caustic. I am aware that the Italian and Sicilain Italians are very expressive, but there is an energy which is beyond expressive. Where does this originate in the emotions and minds of the people of this region? I know this is not intended as mean spirited, but why is this habitual? What do you think? Grazie amica.

Love the videos. I am almost 70 now, but I remember some expressions my Nanna used to say to me when I was 4 or 5. She was from the countryside near a town she called San Ciupirreddu ( San Cipirello in Italian I believe) my brother and I would often talk at the dinner table which she didn't like, of course. As best I can write it, she would say something like: Iddu chi parra perdi un vuchunni; meaning "The one who talks loses a mouthful. ( i.e. bite of food)" She passed away 60 years ago, but I thhank you for the memory of Sicily.

in dialetto aragonese questa espressione si dice "cu parra perdi u macicuni" . Questo me lo sento dire continuamente dalla nonna essendo che ho tendenza a parlare un po' troppo durante i pasti...😉 Un'altra espressione molto simile è "la piecura pi diri mme persi lu macicuni'

Sicilian is it’s own language and we as Sicilian people are not Italian. Sicily and it’s language came way before Italy, therefore if anything, Italian is a dialect of its mother language; SICILIAN

I am Portuguese and I have found a lot of Portuguese words in the Sicilian dialect! It is amazing! The word for woman or wife in Portuguese is “Mulher” and in Sicilian I heard “Mulhere”!!!! Very uniquely Portuguese dialect! Spanish is “mujer” which is slightly different from Portuguese.

Have you thought about adding more content in Sicilian? I learned Italian and now I’m teaching myself Neapolitan and Sicilian. I’m noticing that there’s a lot of content for Neapolitan, but not for Sicilian. Thank you! By the way, I don’t get the discrimination against the southern Italian languages. From what I have studied, they’re actually closer to standard Italian, than Piedmontese, Lombardo, Ligurian, etc. They’re all their own separate languages, but I’ve never understood the discrimination towards the southern languages.

I pretty much consider siclians to be a different race from Italians. Sorry not sorry. Italy didn't even claim Sicily at 1st. Its soo damn confusing... because siclians come off as another type of people. They look completely different too. Some Italians, I need proof that they are Italian... but sicilians, you can see sicily all in them...from their skin color to their facial features.
