If you ever build another one or decide to modify this one again you do not need the support bracket for the cross beam as with the double slide setup you are using it is not a cantilever. You can then also use the same type of slide as the other 2 instead of making a different style.

Your symptoms from your first video , with changes happening when brake is depressed , usually points to a ground connection or wire corrosion problem. There are dozens of circuits , but only a few grounds. Ultimately there are usually only 2 main grounds , and a few sub - main grounds. If you start at the battery negative terminal there might be only one post , but 1 or more smaller wires that tie into the main cable, often under a pladtic cover. There is often corrosion under the plastic that is not easily seen. The same thing happens on the positive side, one large cable, with several smaller wires crimped or spliced into the connection. The negative side cable might go to the engine, but the smaller wire goes to the frame. Usually there is a frame to engine ground strap, and there are other ground locations for the transmission to the frame, and for most other circuits, like the brake lights and often for the ECM. Because many circuits use the same ground, whenever there is a high current demand , like from all the brake lights, or from a AC blower on HIGH, and there is corrosion or a loose connection, there is a large voltage difference between one side of the frame connection, and the final ground at the battery. The circuits that have low current and voltage, like relays , and 5 volt circuits, and the ECM, cannot operate properly on the same poor ground circuit affected by the high currents. So as an example, if the AC blower is on high, and there is a bad frame connection for the negative side of the blower motor, the motor will operate with a voltage drop of 10 volts across the motor, and a 3 volt drop across the bad ground. BUT when that same ground point is used by a 5 volt circuit , or a low current circuit, those devices do not operate properly when the ground side is at 3 volts. A friend had a truck that stopped running whenever he put the AC blower on high. The AC blower used the same ground as the Fuel Pump relay. The ground bolt was loose. The fuel pump relay coil solenoid would not hold the fuel pump contacts closed when the blower was on, and it would kill the power to the fuel pump . The fuel pump relay needed more than 10 volts for the contacts to stay tightly closed. Hope this helps, sorry it took so long to explain !

Thank you for the information. I am fairly certain the issue is in one of the two switches on the brake pedal. Which also involves more grounds somewhere. There is one switch for brake lights and a separate one to cancel cruise and lock up. The cruise doesn't work, and neither does the lock up. I just haven't gotten back to troubleshooting on it yet.

I had the same problem with the motor plate sizing . The longer one was fine but the top smaller one was too small. I just drew one using the measurments on the sheet . I have the whole basic machine done. Nw its time to do the wiring, which im not TOO concerned about . Then the flashing and programming which i AM concerned about my ability to do. I have people around me who are more familiar then i am so , hopefully, they can do this for me.

Was trying to figure out how to use it with a torch height controller, I guess there needs to be a voltage regulator in place to lower the voltage so a board can read it. I am stuck with making torch holder thinking what kind it should be maybe magnetic. I spent almost 800€ but I still have not working cutter. Do you have any advice for coating water pan and what kind of color should I use? I like your videos, keep doing a good job.
@rustedroostershop
@rustedroostershop 3 ай бұрын
With your torch height control, I would just make sure your holder is sturdy and easy to set your torch square to the material it's cutting. I struggle a little keeping my torch square and my cuts have an angle to them. You can paint your pan with regular spray paint. Don't bother painting your cross pieces, as those just get burned up anyway. I like your drain on your pan. That's a nice touch.

@@rustedroostershop I will use torch on the machine I made, and I think that this is sturdy enough. My thoughts: when it is sturdy for 2.2KW spindle, maybe it will be good enough for torch kzfaq.info/get/bejne/naxhjZipvLWwoqM.htmlsi=IU5eZ5bS9HVBobic For water pan I made 2 long pieces I weld to pan, and they are 30mm below cross bow pieces, lower. This bow like pieces are removable and I will not paint them. I found nitro based paint, and it is written that it is for 600 degrees Celsius. I read that plasma torch has 26000 degrees. Sorry for asking dumb questions, I got plasma recently, and I just cut a few lines by hand just to try it, so I have not any experience with all this and that is why I want to put it on machine.

Thank you. I was concerned I had plugged into the wrong slot, not knowing each slot is keyed to specific plugs. It went in fine, so I'm good to go (I guess). One thing though. Maybe you know the answer. When I got it all hooked up, I slide the control button as if activating the brakes. With the key off and the trailer not hooked up, the dash lights come on and the chime rings (same chime as headlights on with key off). However, with the key on, still not hooked up to trailer, this does not happen. Is this normal?
@rustedroostershop

That's not normal. Sounds like you're somehow back feeding 12 volts to another circuit.
@RichardSpeights
@RichardSpeights 5 ай бұрын
@@rustedroostershop You betcha that's not normal, lol. I think the color codes (colored wires) have been changed since the creation of this 2001 Yukon. In simply matching up the colors, I might have reversed the signal light and blue brake wire. (Since the thing had power, I'm guessing the white and black wires are correctly matched). Nonetheless, I've disconnected everything and will get the old volt meter out and track everything down. I'll let you know what I find.
@RichardSpeights
@RichardSpeights 5 ай бұрын
@@rustedroostershop Okay. As promised, I have an update. The adapter plug, which was supposed to be for a 2001 Yukon, was mis-wired. The red was supposed to be situated for the bottom/left prong. It was set up for the upper/right prong. I did a little surgery on the plug, moving the red wire to the correct spot on the plug assemble, and all is well. Seems to work great so far. I found this error by unplugging the adapter and hunting. I knew power and ground were right. I knew blue/brakes was right. I still doublechecked hot to make sure, running a ground wire from battery to meter. Then, with the meter grounded, I touched prongs and pushed brakes until I found the right prong for the brake lights.
