Omg... That outdoor section after the train station always made me laugh.. xD I am still so happy to have hl2 on the OG Xbox. This CPU upgrade definitely makes the game much more "playable". It's more like how hl1's PS2 port looks in frame rate comparison 👌

I'm assuming there's a step between puttin the balls in the template and putting the cpu on the board that involves removing the template. Do you just take it off relying on the flux to hold the balls in place, or is it heated in some way first?

Can i ask what kinda 1 ghz proc you use? I just bought 2 tualatins from 1.4ghz. But i see you dont need to make heatsink adjustments with the one you use. Is the performance gap big between the 1.4 ghz and 1 ghz proc?

Wish you had tested the dvd drive. Those Thomson drive are notoriously unreliable. I hope the broken screw post was disclosed if you purchased it as a collector’s item. Although you easily replace it with a standard halo shell since it’s exactly the same cover without any serial numbers or other identifying features that would expose it as having been legitimately replaced.

I've had more luck with Thomson drives than I have with Samsung. But, I've been able to rescue more dead Samsung drives just by installing new Resistor Arrays.

@@RetroRenegadeRepairs green light of death I think. I’ve had the yellow before. It turned on after unboxing and was on maybe 5 seconds, flashed a bunch of random colors and that’s all she wrote, took it to a local place they didn’t want to touch it. It’s never been opened, I think I took the hard dive out to use for something else, other than that it’s been a paper weight since, and my wife reminds me how I spent $600 on a broken ps3, to which I told her it was sealed in box, so I thought it be fine, I had an og launch system that crapped out after 2 repairs.
