My answer is yes. But if you have a drummer in said room you are going to have to push the volume for sure. I still stand by adding an additional speaker cab with it so you can push enough air and maintain headroom.

Footswitch working by release is a good thing IMO. Otherwise when it changes immediately there might be slight timing problems. It's very much like cocking a revolver's hammer before firing. It depends on how timely you want your changes though.

Good comment my friend. I still use this amp years after making this video. I've made other comments already about using it with a 4x10 bass cab and it puts the 7 string in a better baritone range rather than using only the combo with a 1x12 by itself. I played a show last weekend with only the laney and my pedal board. I use a darkglass preamp and I was miced to FOH but there were too many mids, no matter how much I tried to fix it live on stage. My favorite speaker set up that I've used is the laney 1x12 with a 2x10 and mic both the 10" and 12" Then you can mix the 12" for trebble/high mids and the 10" for low mids/bass. To sum this up: For a low priced amp, it is plenty loud enough and reliable to use on stage if you mic it up to FOH.

What cable should i use to connect to a PA system? Trs to xlr cable?
@Aaronek5
@Aaronek5 2 жыл бұрын
That's an interesting question. You will have to use a "speaker" grade cable so you don't damage any equipment. I'm going to caution you on trying this. I'm still using this amp religiously and I use either a 4x10 Peavy cab or a 2x10 Ampeg cab. If you try to run the speaker out into an uncontrolled load input you can cause major damage to both devices. Your alternative is to just run a speaker cable direct into the PA speaker and avoid the mixer all together, but I'm assuming you want to run the Laney into the entire PA system. My advice is just mic the Laney into the PA, this is your safest option. Thanks for the comment!

@Aaronek5
@Aaronek5 3 жыл бұрын
Absolutely, this amp does its job very well on stage. At 65 watts it does hold its own. I however recommend that you also run the speaker output if you have ANY kind of cab available. I run mine with a 2x10 cab and I have been too loud at times according to the drummer. Hope this info helps.

Hi, is the reverb dry-through?
@Aaronek5
@Aaronek5 3 жыл бұрын
So the reverb is right before the power amp section just like most reverbs. I have it set minimally on 1 or 2. It isn't the best but it does its job. I think it's actually pretty "wet" because it can cause some unwanted results on higher settings with distortion. Reverb is a tricky effect to get right on a combo amp at this price point. Hopefully this answers your question, thanks for the comment and take care!
@wodenoftheangles3339
@wodenoftheangles3339 3 жыл бұрын
@@Aaronek5 Okay, thanks. I was just wondering whether the circuit sends the *entire* signal through the digital reverb or whether it splits it in two and sends half through the digital stage and retains half the signal as analogue..? I might email Laney direct and ask them. Thanks again.
@Aaronek5
@Aaronek5 3 жыл бұрын
@@wodenoftheangles3339 From what I can tell from the circuit diagram is that it is "wet" because the entire signal is being processed and it is very digital. I was playing a 1980s tube fender twin reverb before I bought the laney and the laney falls way short compared to the fender, of course! The lx65r is an awesome "broadcasting" and pedal platform. But the distortion section and reverb has its own specific flavor. I run all effects and an additional pre amp and power amp into the effects loop. Then I have a 2x10 cabinet hooked up as well. For this purpose the lx65r does its job very well and I still haven't had any issues with the build quality. Im thinking of doing a rig rundown type of video because a lot of people use cheaper combo amps and a lot of these amps have good versatility if you know the basics about circuitry. Thanks again for the comment, sorry this one is so long!

I had it. With digital multieffects box or analog pedals like distortion, delay and reverb it sounds "good" but it lacks of body and tightness, its sound is loud but too thin and too bright, anyways it is an entry-level amp, I would say to practice at home eventhough it is loud
@Aaronek5
@Aaronek5 3 жыл бұрын
After years of playing many amps and picking this up while living abroad it has the issues you mentioned. But after running it with an IR system into a 2x10 cab I have started to get a pretty nice baritone tight modern sound.

@@Aaronek5 does Laney LX65R cover heavy drummer???
@Aaronek5
@Aaronek5 Жыл бұрын
@@dejanarsovski1473 It does but I would recommend running a cab with it. If you are in a small practice space it’s plenty loud with a drummer but if you’re looking at a moderate sized room or on stage I highly recommend running it into any type of speaker cab to achieve a louder more controlled sound.

Hi. Thanks for video. How it sounds very very low volume. I have little bedroom. Is it playable late night?
@Aaronek5
@Aaronek5 3 жыл бұрын
You have a headphone output on the back which works nicely. But I will say that at low volume the clean channel is solid. The distortion channel works better when the speaker fully activates at mid volume or more. Here's a trick, set your amp up on a folded up blanket or dense pillow, it will stop the vibrations from absorbing into the floors amd walls, which isolates your sound inside of the room. Hope this helps, take care.

@Aaronek5
@Aaronek5 4 жыл бұрын
First of all you WILL NOT REGRET BUYING IT. Mine is still going strong. Secondly, for adding an extension cab, all you need is a speaker cable, and a cab rated at 8 ohms or 16 ohms. I use 2x12, or 2x10, or 4x10, depends on what or who im playing with. Hope this was helpful!

@Aaronek5
@Aaronek5 4 жыл бұрын
@@EhrosmithTV With my 65r the internal speaker works as well when you use a cab. I really like using a 2x10 cab because it adds different frequencies compared to the internal 12 inch speaker. Having a variety of speakers running at the same time creates a really good balanced sound.

@Aaronek5
@Aaronek5 4 жыл бұрын
I will try my best to understand your question. The HH that Laney is producing currently has a very good midrange combined with a tight low-end. Highs are clear and not too chimey. Sensitivity I would explain like this: the speaker "activates" very well at moderate to high volume, and this is when the volume is at 6+. At 8 the volume is too loud for me to hear our drummer. Hope this helps. Feel free to ask more.

For a great tone, set everything at noon EXCEPT for the volume, don't want to blow out your eardrums, and set the gain at zero for now. Starting on the bass, turn it down and gradually turn it up until you find the greatest difference in tone. This will be the sweet spot for your acoustics and guitar setup. Now do the same with mid and then treble. NOW, slowly increase the gain until your chords start to growl. Put an overdrive in front, and turn its gain to zero. Match the volume of the pedal with the volume of your amp and tune the tone control to taste. That my friend is how you find the perfect tone for your setup on ANY setup. For best results ALWAYS push your input stage BEFORE the gain stage, and NEVER add gain on top of gain, or you'll end up with sonic mush and NOBODY wants to hear that.

@Aaronek5

The amp by it self with humbuckers has plenty of distortion and volume for a gig. Adding your favorite overdrive and/or distortion pedals would guarantee a heavy sound. The thing I love most about the LX65R is that it IS VERY LOUD. The HH speaker inside is made to be pushed. The line out is awesome because you can run out to a PA System or to another speaker and the HH speaker inside stays active as well. Hope this helps you out, feel free to ask more questions.
