I think too that she is a great pianiste. If she knew the composition by memory, it would be more quiet because no one would stand up at her side all the time. Andras Schiff has no problem to perform all Bach concerts by memory.

Orribile....!
@victoriainhongkongАй бұрын
Excuse me, but your comment is too harsh considering that this piece must have been written for harpsichord, not the piano (there was no piano as we know it now, in Bach's time), and so this whole arrangement is a bit of an experiment. I think it was a bold and worthy one.
@francoebasta571426 күн бұрын
Orribile....!

Absolutely gorgeous, perfectly paced piece of music which really gets under my skin (in a good way). A technicality, but can anyone tell me whether this is the original version of 1903 or the 1942 re-working?
@Klavicus2 ай бұрын
The Adagio (2nd movement) is an original from 1903. Only the 4th movement with a soprano voice was composed by my great-great-aunt in 1942. See also the complete symphony with all 4 movements. kzfaq.info/get/bejne/qJmPrNVjvq7IYKs.html

@@Klavicus Thanks! Does that mean that the original symphony have a different Fourth Movement, or that there wasn't one at all before 1942? By the way, this symphony is just gorgeous - it's weird that it hasn't really got much traction sofar.
@Klavicus2 ай бұрын
@@bomcabedal my great-grandaunt Mathilde composed the symphony in 1903 and sent the sheet music to a competition in Prog. Unfortunately, the symphony was never performed during Mathilde's lifetime. She had never heard them. I can't say exactly whether she only composed the fourth movement in 1942. I guess -yes- because she was already old and sick. She was a strict Catholic and believed in God. In the lyrics of her hymn she describes her impending death as passing through a great gate into eternity. Please send me your email address and I will send you the text in the original German and English translation.

Do we have information on the performers? Is it Spinnato, who has done great work in promoting Kralik's work?

No, the piece was not designed by Silvia Spinnato, but by the conductor Finnegan Downie Dear. By the way, the composer Mathilde was my great-grand aunt. See also my webside: www.Kralikklassik.de

If I was exposed to this piece blindly and someone had told me it was a newly discovered work by Brahms I would have believed it. Reminds me of his early piano works, like the Scherzo and the opus 5 piano sonata. This short motif kicks the piece off but is developed significantly and occasionally there's some great melodic lyricism to be found. It has its rough edges but is a highly entertaining piece to listen to, and is brilliantly played.

In a review of the "Musiker-Couriers," 3 jg 1879/1880, no. 22, p. 104, signed »Ed. M. (Translated from Franz Scheder's "Anton Bruckner Chronologie Datenbank" - Scherzo: 18:30 What a fine composer she was! Pupil of Bruckner's, fellow student with Mahler at the Vienna Conservatory.

Hi Ken Ward. Thanks for answer. Mathilde is my great-great aunt. Here I upload from Eduard Hanslick on the year 1880 to this TRIO from Mathilde. I hope, you can translate this in english. : Wien, Neue Freie Presse, 17. März 1880. (Eduard Hanslick.)

What a great piece, what a powerful performance. It all starts so innocently and then....! Mathilde Kralik, born in Linz, a pupil of Bruckner's, was at the Vienna Conservatory with Mahler.
