I found the screenshot lighting breakdowns very helpful, and I can see why you flag the overhead lights now, it’s not just colour temp issues… at 00:00:25:00 for a moment I thought ‘Why is he setting up kit in the baggage claim area?’ But I’m watching on my phone while I’m making breakfast and distracted 😝. Lastly is the overhead the 5*7 and can work with one light stand and clip?

Love the idea of the screenshots for viewers who don’t want to watch a whole reel. Much faster to see the quality of work. I might steal this idea too. Looks very effective. Can’t wait to hear more about the bull riding feature. Sounds like a bit of doc and manufactured scenes. Would love to get more into that space.

Would love to know your thoughts on framing your interviews. I see that sometimes you've got tons of floor and sometimes not. This appears to me as making choices on lens FOV/height. Curious as to what goes into that process for you? Is it purely aesthetics? Logistics?

Great idea with the screen grabs. Think i'll implement that as well. And the brake down of each for us(me)… priceless.

If you do decide to get a new gimbal, the RS4 Pro can fly the Burano. I know you have your FX3 as a gimbal cam workflow, but it’s nice to have that option. It’s also only marginally larger than the SC.

Absolutely hooked on all your videos, as a young photographer/videographer in Cork, Ireland (year and a half in) I find your videos so incredibly helpful and have taught me so much! Can I ask for the interviews where you leave overhead lighting on, what are you doing regarding white balance? Are you matching your key light to the overhead lighting, so that the colour is fairly uniform throughout the subject and background? Thanks, and looking forward to the next video 👌
@CrankyCameraman8 сағат бұрын
White balance. In general I note the background color temp, then set my foreground based on what color shift I desire for the BG. Then camera WB set to keylight on subject. Often the BG is daylight but I set the FG to half and half (about 4300k) so the BG is a cooler blue color (to complement skin tone).

for me I always do a 50% non-refundable deposit that is required to book the shoot date and is non-refundable within one week. I think most clients understand that if they need to cancel that's on them. That employee that is sick is still getting paid via sick day so you really shouldn't be any different. When that happens to me I just keep the 50% and move on unless I reallllllly love the client.

I’ve worked shoots with an Alexa Mini LF that could easily be shot on the FX3. But the client wanted Alexa’s and paid for them

How's post go with colour / gamma matching the Burano and FX9? Did you do a video on speccing them up / matching them as best - I thought I saw one where you were testing side by side, but might be mixed up by something else I've seen?

The cameras match, all I do is pull a AWB framing a white or grey card with cameras side by side.

@1:30 You were saying in another comment about how you like to have a small mic so you can keep it compact with the placement of the cutter (or bounce or diff), well if you get yourself a low profile XLR connector you can get it waaaay more compact than you already have it! 🙂 For example put into B&H a search for this: "Kondor Blue Straight Low-Profile Right-Angle XLR Cable"
@CrankyCameraman5 күн бұрын
Great suggestion and a reminder for me. 5+ years ago (before I moved to Texas) I purchased a right angle XLR to install on the boom pole, and I only remember when I’m rolling on interviews. Added to the todo list. Thanks!

Beck’s a smart kid! Good on him working hard and saving that money! I was homeschooled too, and my Dad let me work with him in his construction business. It helped me A LOT 🙌🏻 Vocas makes a 7.9” Nato Rail with 15mm rod clamp, I bought it a few months back, and I’ve been loving it!! That really good vocas quality, and more than enough length to push that monitor far from your eyes! Appreciate your vlogs brother. They give me a healthy perspective 🙏🏻

One year at the Lions Festival in France, every marketing company kept talking about "Web 3.0." It was supposed to change everything, and mega influencers were launching NFTs to gain access to their virtual nightclubs. I was covering it for a brand that has a big presence there, and on the flight back to the states I kept thinking about how I've never wanted to go more analog than while I was there. Here we are a few years later, and Web 3.0 talk is dead.
