In the USA, watching Andrei's channel in English, which I used to watch in Russian three years ago at home, brings me pleasure. Plus, my dream of getting a Private Pilot License (PPL) is getting closer. I just need to establish myself here a bit more, then move from California to Florida to be closer to SkyEagle Aviation Academy.

In FAA world - no, It's only required Multi Engine add-on to your license (without any type). In EASA it can be type in your license.

Thank you Andrew for the cool video! Sometimes, when I use subtitles, it overlaps some thechnical details that you put as a text to the bottom of the screen (tablet view). Maybe, it will be more comfortable to see this text notes in the top of the screen?

welcome back, Андрей. Очень интересные самолеты, конечно. И красивые. Особенно 50-й как по мне. Интересно, как они реагируют на качество дизельного топлива? Например, утрирую, но можно ли слить с условного трактора дизель и залить в эти самолеты? Хотя, скорее всего, в "нормальных" странах о таком даже и не думают, но мало ли. Спасибо за очередное познавательное видео. Не пропадайте и Удачи!

Dear Andrey, thanks for such a comprehensive video content! You helped me to get a clear understanding on getting FAA License. The only question left is whether I can convert my ICAO CPL with 250 logged hours into FAA CPL and how to do that. Like, do I have to convert my PPL and then start CPL FAA from scratch? Or can I directly convert to into CPL FAA? Or else? Could you please answer it?

Hello) as I mentioned in this video and other articles - there is no way to convert ICAO CPL to FAA CPL. No way. You can only validate your CPL license and get FAA PPL Foreign based and then continue FAA Instrument rating and FAA Commercial from scratch (but counting your hours from logbook). So the program can be reduced but written tests and exams - as usually.

Various sources place the starting price at 1.15m$ already in 2022 so what's the deal on the price? did they realize it was too expensive or what? Gogetair 915 version is 270k€, same speed, 4 seats, longer range, 1/3 the weight, half the fuel burn, can run on mogas meaning 1/4 fuel cost. Smaller wingspan so cheaper hangar. No deicing though afaik.

They are doing a lot of it right, started from gliders, composite structure and they made the herculean effort to develop new engines far more advanced than anything else in GA. However they should just have made small turbofan jet engines instead of piston diesels. They are much easier to make, 20x lighter and can easily fly double the speed or more with surprisingly good fuel economy. Turbofan engines just needs a pressurized cabin to take advantage of the thin air. What they have done is make expensive planes that can run on jetA, very little net advantage. If they made light jets it would have been a revolution. Without exaggeration. 300kg 4 seater, 700km/h cruise, better fuel economy than a cessna 172 and the engines last the life of the plane. An Eclipse 550 twin jet has better fuel economy than a Baron 58 despite going twice the speed with a bigger cabin. Think about that. We could literally have private jet freedom at LSA prices. Also I think they should make the fuselage as 1 piece, not two sides. It might seem inconvenient but it's just so much better when set up, same with the wings. You might have to make the tail as separate pieces. Too difficult to lay up from the inside. Acceptable compromise I think. Easier to make that small joint instead of long seam all along the plane.

Doing my PPL right now, I intend to buy a Shark Aero once I finish my license to build hours for my CPL, I want to use it to fly myself and my other half to places like France and Spain and British islands, As well as just have some fun in the mountains low level flying.

It seems like a very well made plane except for one critical problem. It's a heavy plane that despite quite high price is slow. I understand why they made diesel engines for jetA it just got very heavy. What they should do is make small turbofan jet engines for a 4 seater plane. Not a 1600kg plane but a 300kg plane. Because 300kg is plenty strength to carry 4 people. And then the speed would be double and the cost much less. Because it is heavy the wingspan is 15meters which means greater hangar costs, possibly a lot greater cost.

Regarding USA, upcoming mosaic rules might allow it without any changes but otherwise it could be certified for part 23, no need to conform to LSA. I believe FAA has shifted towards being quite reasonable about certification. They say they shift from a documentation to performance practice. So basically if you have demonstrated that it works well for a long time and you have good production discipline they'll allow it.

Beautiful aircraft. I don’t agree with you Andrey about your comparison with the Cirrus SR22. Why is the Cirrus the better aircraft in the US but in Europe the DA 50 is the better choice? That makes no sense at all. They are both very similar. Correct. But besides the Parachute 🪂 the Cirrus does nothing better. The safety construct, the safety margin, this is way better on the DA50. The DA50 has the better aerodynamics. The DA50 has the way better fuel efficiency. A difference of 5-6 Gallons per hour in advantage is huge. The ramp appeal does the DA50 a lot better either. The cabin comfort is a slice better compared to the Cirrus. The DA50 got retractable gear, which I like and prefer more because of performance. Jet fuel is cheaper than avgas. And even in the US cheap avgas is history in most places. My choice would be clearly the DA50. The Cirrus is nice and awesome. But the DA50 takes over me better and more feelings to this one. I think the points go to the DA50. The Parachute is a factor, yes. But I would trust in the intensive and long development time from the DA50 in a serious functional product. The single engine can stop running on either planes. But it’s all about mission. Me I will never fly at night IFR in icing conditions in Mountain areas, over long distance open sea at night or other possible severe situations in single engine planes. Of course you could do so, and many pilots will do. But ridiculous to me. With the right mission in my mindset in most situations I can get off without the parachute. And I can do a belly landing in the DA50 if this might be the better option. So in my opinion there are positives all over the place in the DA50. Also in the US. Besides that, the Cirrus is parking all over the place on the ramps. The DA50 comes and will get the show. Believe me. 😊
