These whales were so happy. That makes me happy, there were a bunch of males and females with their calves. Grandmas, grandpas, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, grand kids, cousins, moms and dads. They were all together and they are all related. Orky ll, Lolita and Corky ll are southern resident orcas. Lolita is from Washington, Orky ll is from Canada and so is Corky ll. Orky is dead and the two females are still alive and in their fifties. Lolita is 54 and Corky is 58. And they both have tall proud dorsal fins. These whales were super active and having a whale of a time. Spyhopping, breaching, back breaching and lob tailing. This is how orcas should be seen. Now Seaworld is both good and bad, but when it comes to captivity, it’s wrong. This is how they should be seen, happy, together with their pods, in the wild.

I'm 90% sure that's R Clan. It took me a long time but I was comparing the saddle patches and the dorsal fins. I very easily could be wrong cause at first glance I thought J clan.

There so beautiful and gentle, especially where they belong. With there pods, and families in the open ocean's. I did get to give one a kiss and rub his belly. It was something I'll never forget. That was before I found out what Sea world, and all the other's were about. Never again will I visit a sea world. Four people have been killed in history, by an orca. 3 were trainer's, and one homeless guy who snuck in a orca pool at night. Thank God there protected now! 🙏 🙏 🐋

Die Orcas sind so extrem beindruckende und imposante Tiere und sie dann aber in Seaworld und anderen Shows mit ganz kleinen Bassins mit abgeknickter Flosse zu wissen, das macht einen sehr traurig und lässt einen frustriert zurück, denn sie sind so wahnsinnig kluge und soziale Tiere denen man in Gefangenschaft NIEMALS gerecht werden kann !!

Corky and Lolita have been in captivity for over half a century. Lolita is from the Puget Sound Southern Resident orca population, which was decimated by captures in the sixties and seventies. They are now listed as critically endangered. Her mother, Ocean Sun, is estimated to be between eighty and ninety years old. They will probably never be reunited. Corky is a Northern Resident and member of the A-23 pod. Her sister, brother, niece and grand-nephews can still be seen roaming the coastal waters of British Columbia. What different lives they must lead.

I was there in November 2007! And I went out on a slightly larger inflatable, with capacity for 50 people, although we were never much more than half that on every trip I went. I went on one noon trip and when they offered these afternoon evening trips to us while still on the boat I went and ended up going three times! Watching the sun go down over the inky black water with a couple of Southern Right whales splashing about nearby is heart-achingly wonderful! The engines are always off at these times of course and there is no music, just the splashes of flukes, whales breathing and the water slapping against the hull. Peninsula Valdes is the very best place to have such an experience and these whales are so friendly, as you can see.
