"I'll take from all mankind conquer all the odds... with soft and bouncy hair...!". I got that idea from Shrek. Prince Charming's song

I like how it's an unspoken rule that Edward Hyde must have a cane and tophat in "Alive"
@carlthomaswilliamsjr.29955 ай бұрын
Truth be told...In the book Hyde was not an alternate personality embodying Jekyll's evils but an alter ego Jekyll used to hide his evils. Jekyll was in full control of his actions and the potion was a transformation one and would change him back to Hyde when he did evil deeds. If the Musical really wanted to go full book accurate we could have Jekyll simply wanting to have a night of fun which slowly turns him more and more evil as time moves on eventually he realizes just how monstrous he becomes and he could either turn himself in...or just accept his dark nature but I'm just a weirdo. I love your animatic.

Yess I love seeing comments like this because I also think deeply about the relationship between jekyll and hyde and how its much more different in modern adaptations. They are much less intertwined and can even interact as if they were simply two seperate people in one body, whereas in the book it is much more complicated
@carlthomaswilliamsjr.29954 ай бұрын
@@heather6154 May I ask do you consider Jekyll evil or someone who got in over their head wanting to just let off some steam? To be honest I think it is the former because despite whatever image he made for himself to be a good guy was gone when he became Hyde. Like I imagine real people going on an adventure and meeting Dr. Jekyll thinking Hyde is a split personality but the reality is not as black and white and such.
@heather61544 ай бұрын
@@carlthomaswilliamsjr.2995 Id have to agree with that, although Im not sure I would go as far as to say jekyll is evil. It does paint him in a more negative light when you think about the fact that he only really starts to want to seperate from hyde once he loses control or goes too far, and even then he wishes there was a way he could keep hyde around.
@carlthomaswilliamsjr.29954 ай бұрын
@@heather6154 You make a good point. To be fair Jekyll was someone who probably just had a lot of frustration deep inside of him and used Hyde as a persona to just get it out but was unable to get it out in a healthy way so he used Hyde. Honestly looking at the book it was really tragic because we see a guy from old London who was simply wanting to do something human but never had a proper outlet and didn't confined in any friends of his...
@heather61544 ай бұрын
@@carlthomaswilliamsjr.2995 agreed. The book is truly a tragidy in my opinion, it is very sad when you think about it. As jekyll says in the mazm game, Jekyl didn’t even die as himself, but essentially as a terrified shell of what he and hyde once were.

This reminds me of a tumblr post I saw a while back where someone said their friend kept plants that were named after all of their friends and whenever they noticed one of the plants was dying/wilting, they would contact their friend and almost always that friend was going through something rough.
