So if you take the exact same capture and hard pan them on each Tone X, does it have phase issues? I only have a Walrus Canvas so I’m wondering.

How did you find the tuning stability? I'm contemplating getting wither one of these or a player series jazzmaster. Only ever had hard tail guitars before and worry about tuning. I wouldn't be using the w/bar anyway.
@thetoneshepherd
@thetoneshepherd 2 күн бұрын
I ended up replacing the tuners and the vibrato which helped the tuning substantially. It did have some tuning issues out of the box. But if you're not planning on using the vibrato, you should be absolutely fine.

I know I'm late to the party, but I have a question. I'm considering switching to Tonex and was wondering if I can pull up an amp and change the cab to whatever I want? For example, right now on my Fractal I can use an AC20 with a Ohm Hammer 4x12 Marshall cab that I love and use for all my presets. Thanks for your help!
@thetoneshepherd
@thetoneshepherd 2 күн бұрын
You can definitely do this if you would like. However, most captures are intended to be used with the cab that it was captured with. However, Tonex does offer a way to capture just a head separately from the cab. If somebody has done that, that's usually a better method for adding a third party cab.

I just got my tonex ones. Been having some output volume issues. I was messing around with the reverb button in the alternate mode and when i set it from 0 to around 9 o clock that made the output volume skyrocket. Any idea why? I would prefer to not have any reverb on the pedal and it just take the wet effects from my bigsky

Hi everyone, so completely new to pedal boards as amps. Do you go into DI boxes at all at home or are you going out of the board vi XLR into and iterface ( also which interface lol) Then di you primarily play through monitors or how do you setup a home ‘studio’? Also on the recording side what program do you use for the stream side? Looking at recording at home on my side. Last Q for now, when playing at church whats the output from your board to the house? So stereo do you treat it as two instruments in the mixer pa side right? Sorry for all the techie stuff but i need to do a mobile setup also for church :)
@thetoneshepherd
@thetoneshepherd 6 күн бұрын
At home/studio I use a DI box (actually a DISO+ line isolator from Pinstripe pedals...much better than a standard DI for guitar modelers). And then, yes, I go XLR out to my interface (Apollo x8p...but you don't need anything that fancy...a Scarlett 6i6 or similar would work). I use Logic Pro for recording. And when you send your signal to the house you send them two XLRs and they pan them hard L and R.

@@thetoneshepherd thanks bud, makes a bit more sense after that, i must say out of all the modelers ive tried or owned the tonex is just phenomenal price wise even if you factor in a extra di box that doubles as a safety for the pedal board

So when you want to play with the trim pot you have to take strings off if using locking tuners (don't need to wind so much string) to get underneath? Then adjust restring and tune? Why not make anything adjustable sit in the backing plate area so you can literally adjust on the fly and compare and find that sweet spot immediately..hell even have it on the pickguard with a fancy cap or knob perhaps. Love the concept and I'll be getting one, just a strat bugbear.
@thetoneshepherd
@thetoneshepherd 6 күн бұрын
I totally get it. Would have been nice to be able to dial this in from the front. But I found that once I had my "spot", I didn't want to touch it again, so I'd rather not have a hole in my pickguard dedicated to something I only use once.

Thanks for sharing so much into how you put your board together. I'm in the process of making a new praise & worship board and a lot of what you've shown I'm interested in doing myself. I like that you designed it such that you can plug in your mains from either side of the board. My question is how did you make that work? Did you use some kind of splitter or special cable so power can be routed from either of two different sources? Basically, I have three power supplies I can chain together, but not sure where to go from there. Thanks again 🙂

Ah, I see what you're saying. With Tonex you're only able to use it for one thing at a time. You can either load up an overdrive preset OR an amp preset. You can't load up both an overdrive and an amp at the same time--you'd need a Tonex pedal dedicated to each.

I actually picked up a tonex one to use for drives along side my two big box tonex which are for amps. Then I realized as you mentioned in one of the other comments that using a big box one for drives makes much more sense to take advantage of midi. So my question would be, if I use one big box pedal and one tonex one for the amps, is the latency difference between the two going to cause any phasing issues? Thanks for any insight you have into this.
@thetoneshepherd
@thetoneshepherd 13 күн бұрын
There will be phasing issues, yes...however, ONLY if it's in mono and ONLY if you're running the same amp on both sides. You should be just fine if you hard pan.

Let me be clear…they both have their place. For ME, I’ve been playing with with wet effects after the amps but the sound I am after (and have been unable to) is with the wet effects BEFORE the amp. @thetoneshepherd
@thetoneshepherd 14 күн бұрын
Actually, in my opinion, it would be the opposite. It would sound a little bit better if they were different amps. The same exact amp would have a little bit of comb filtering… But again, that's assuming that you summed them to mono which doesn't happen very often. Keeping any combination of amps hard panned will likely be fine.

Thank you! Yeah, on this song it was challenging because I needed to create a part that I could play and sing at the same time. So I'm able to actually play all of the "lead" parts on this one and if we don't have a second guitar player, the lead suffices as the only guitar. But I understand that parts could be divided differently on this song. There's no hard and fast rule

For me when buying anything I ask, does this solve a problem or does it create an opportunity? If it does one I give the purchase serious consideration and buy about 85% of the time, if it does both it gets purchased 100% of the time. The ToneX One does both and I love mine.
