Ah there it is. I felt like the main thing this game was missing in my playthrough is some kind of perma-death or injury mode to promote character rotation considering they give you access to SO many free new characters throughout the game. I mean, in both FE and Ogre Battle there are a lot of characters but also a permadeath to make having so many make sense.

I did a theif only play through too. I’m actually watching this to get ideas on another run. It’s so fun! Thank you for the videos. They’re very helpful.

It feels good to hear someone acknowledge that game reviewers do a bad job of giving a summary of game mechanics. Good point about the concept of skill floor and ceiling. I think Fire Emblem does an excellent job of having both a low floor and a low ceiling (vs. something like a SaGa game which has both a high floor and a high ceiling). But people can sometimes waste too much time on the Monastery or the Somniel when they don't need them anymore and just waste time.

Ive come to find out that blind is the most broken status in this game. It overrides truestrike so i decided to make a "meme team" that blinds and debuffs the enemy team while buffing my own and using rogues to steal their pp on top of being debuffed and blind. Its pretty hilarious.

Golden egg makes gold farming insane. Throw them on a bandit team with Aubuin and his bandit axe and use the XP gold bonus item and you can get ridiculous amounts of gold so fast. Plus the team is strong and can steamroll with hodrick in front. Im only mid game but I have way more gold than I'll need. You can get almost 1k gold from regular (non reinforcement) fights nevermind the garrison or map boss fights

Yeah no offense, but I followed this to the letter and this squad gets washed in Bastorias. Got some wins against Werefoxes but the Swordfighter dies in pretty much every encounter.

I’m trying this right now, but I’m not doing nearly as much damage as he is. I have spur attack active, and I’ve spectrum rallied Alear, and I’m using poison gambit with Claude engaged and Libération, but I’m only doing 8 damage per hit. Can anyone help?

I'm in Executive map first playthrough. Skorpion feels so much better atm than Assault Rifle, but maybe after upgrade and more ammo drops in late game it will be different. So maybe I feel different after completing the game. I wonder if these have had nerfs or buffs in patches though. I'm carrying Rapier, Sparqbeam, Assault Rifle / Magnum depending on which I have more ammo for at the moment.

This was a great review. I'm going to buy fire emblem engage later on for the nintendo switch. I actually love the story of engage way more than three houses to be honest. I didn't like three houses that much, the school/social aspect of the game was just too much. I also like that fire emblem engage's story focuses more on combat too.

What about for hoplites or legionnaires for the dragonbone spear? They dont really need initiative since most of their kit relies on their passive point plus some other better spears could be used for other spear classes

The novelty of Alfred is using wait and then dancing him for +2 STR. Slap a heavy high MT weapon on him or a Brave and he functions very well as a tank that can also dish out damage. He's slow but doesn't care. He often gets doubled but that's fine, he has high defense.

doom knight, shieldshooter A - DK just slat spellsteel gear + pendants for AP/PP and he spams rownukes that are not tankable. shieldshooter is a damage dealing tank (that can kill back row at that) that can heal and has an excellent valor skill gryffon S - high swing slaps annoying cavalry, give it initiative and she gives +15 initiative to 2 others. saving you 2 royal plumes for 1 PP. excellent conferral carrier because it can do ranged row attack for 1 AP. not to mention it can also frontline. not to mention the absolutely broken 1 cost valor skill.

Definitely agree with Magnum & Skorpion being S-Tier. I've beaten the game more than 15 times at this point and I've carried the Magnum with me every single time. Gas Grenades and Mag-Pulse are situational, since the former is intended against mutants, and the latter against robots. Ion Pulse Rifle I've never used much because its damage & armor penetration stats are pretty much on par with the Magnum at medium charge. Plus the Magnum is more compact & only draws from your energy pool when you use the damage/laser sight mod upgrade. As for the Grenade Launcher, I feel like it would've been more viable as a multi-shot weapon with its own 40mm HE ammo. A missed opportunity I think. Otherwise good list overall. I would bump up the Laser Rapier into the A or S tiers though, since it's by far the strongest melee weapon.

Ive unlocked it but how do I do it? When I start a new game there's no difficulty choice option.

Um no vita chamber run is equivalent to survival but an increased difficulty lvl would be cool

definitely deserves a place in most players inventory for most of the game. you could potentially swap it out for the ion rifle or laser rapier, or use the energy for powering your damage buff or shield, but energy is so easy to come by for most of the game that id say inventory space is the major limiting factor
