What is the context of this? In real life, millions and millions of people are just trying to survive. They don't care about the journey to survive. They need to be a stable destination that is ever-harder to reach because of late-stage capitalism

I am currently pursuing physical therapy as a career and I'm trying to get a plan set in motion. How would keeping patients information work, like flowsheets, daily notes, evaluations, payments? As well as being a home health cash pay therapist, how would the documentation and making money work?

There are many different ways to make this work! It depends on your preferences and what's easiest for you. Cash-based gives you the flexibility to do what you prefer.

I went to physical therapy for 3 months,I was working with a PTA and all I did was some exercises,he would tell me which exercise to do next and he would never spend time with me,he would go to his computer doing documentation.My sessions were like 40 min in general and I was left alone most of the time and he never even engaged in any kind of conversation which seemed weird to me. He was kind and smiling for like the first month then he went all cold and distant suddenly. I felt hurt and ripped off.
@AaronLeBauer4 ай бұрын
hey. Thanks for your comment. I'm really sorry you had a bad experience in physical therapy. All I can say is that all "physical therapy" is not the same and I hope you give it another try if and when you need it. There are many therapists out there that will be able to provide a much better experience. This is an experience I hear about all too often, especially when going to a traditional insurance based clinic or corporate owned clinic because the focus isn't 100% on patients. It's split between patients, documentation and billing. That's why our clinic and most of our coaching clients are not contracted with insurance, so we can provide a top quality 100% focused on you experience. Be sure to search out a physical therapist who works in or owns their own local practice, preferably where you can be seen 1:1 for 30-60 min.

So your "ethical " way of treating people is to only take customers that have enough actual cash in the bank to pay you? Now who's letting money influence their decision making. Some people live check to check and couldn't even come close to affording a check up, never mind an injury or emergency surgery. Some become doctors because they make lots of money , but the best doctors ,I believe, are the ones that want to make the quality of life better for as many people as possible.
@AaronLeBauer6 ай бұрын
I didn't say "only take customers that have enough actual cash in the bank to pay". That's your judgment. I said the ethical way is to be transparent with the cost and billing and make a contract directly with our customers. Just because I say "cash" doesn't mean it's expensive. It's often more expensive to use your insurance, it's just that the costs are hidden. Costs including MRI's which are often unnecessary especially for the majority of the conditions we treat.

Isn’t the better way forward to have Medicare for All? Why not eliminate so much for-profit bureaucracy for everyone, not just the wealthy people who can pay for the boutique care you want to offer? Healthcare access & care provider control should be for everyone, not just wealthy people.
@AaronLeBauer6 ай бұрын
"cash" or out of network care isn't just for wealthy people. It's for people who value their health, just like the plumber, electrician, auto mechanic, dentist, hair dresser, barber, etc. People pay for those because they value it and no one in Iowa who is not familiar with plumbing is deciding how to fix the stoppage in your sink, etc "medicare for all" is a great idea, but medicare has it's own and most of the same issues too. I think if we're going for government healthcare we need the "same health care plan congress has for all".

Americans are literal slaves to this industry and they don’t even know it. I’ve traveled abroad and must say, I much prefer the service and doctors of Colombia than the quality I get in America. Colombia ranks higher than America too. Most drugs are inexpensive and I don’t have to play some stupidfkn game with pharmacy’s to get my meds. They refuse to fill my prescription from my Colombian doctor and told me to go to a clinic to get a new prescription. Unreal. I need blood pressure meds. Not some opioids or witchcraft.

Doc, both of you are groundbreakers. i dont know if you realize this. you are laying the foundation that is going to help bring the due recognition and respect that Doctors of PT deserve. At my current SNF contract, Ive received multiple complaints from admin of my refering to myself as "Dr J the physical therapist" So, im even more so excited about what youre doing.Your influence will ultimately change how PTs allow themselves to be treated by employers. I see it also causing a shift of PTs away from the SNFs, hospitals and home health and into their own practices through sole proprietorship or partnership. SNFs and HH companies will undergo a major shift and will have to rebrand. I'm in the process of building a private practice. im tapping into your services so I wont lose time, money and sleep trying to reinvent the wheel. Gods blessings be upon you. both. Sincerely, D Jack DPT MPH

Hey Aaron, I created a superbill template but I am confused about he CPT code fee. How do we know how to price each procedure? Also, if a patient pays for an initial evaluation (cash) $200 but also received manual therapy during that visit, do I noted as $0 and only charge the 200? Thanks!
@AaronLeBauer8 ай бұрын
Hey! In cash PT, it's arbitrary what we put down for units. You can choose 3 units in an hour or 4. And it's up to you to decide the pricing for each procedure. So you take the amount charged per visit and divide that by the number of units you chose and that's what you put on the superbill. Check out this blog post that speaks more to this, and also read the comments at the end. www.lebauerconsulting.com/physical-therapy-cash-practice-super-bill-receipt/

Instead of marketing the e-books in order to eventually get the user to become a client, what has been your results when you just run ads for the therapy service?
@AaronLeBauer8 ай бұрын
running ads is tough if you don't have a proven offer and if you don't have an ebook or lead magnet and just try to run ads to book an appointment, you'll have a harder time. There are a lot of strategies we use to fill schedules before we start running ads.
