Looks great Mazzy. As a fellow Planar 8 user, I definitely recommend Rega's P8 wall bracket, it makes a positive difference to the sound. Happy listening.

I'm seeing The Sadies on Thursday. Really looking forward to seeing them again, but it'll be weird seeing them without Dallas. I'll probably pick up that Rick White album at the gig, if they have it there. I was listening to the new Hermanos Gutierrez album the other day. Unfortunately, like there last album, it doesn't have a UK or European release, so it costs a fortune on import. Great stuff though. I played it back to back with their last album, and they sound very similar. But if it's not broke, don't fix it. I got the Beth Gibbons album. It sounds lovely, if rather bleak. I suppose there are bright spots of strength amongst the pain and loss. Cheers - Hed

I enjoyed the descriptions of the new records and seeing the colorful vinyl. I remember the first time I heard Seal "Crazy " from his first album. I wanted to hear the song again because it was a new creative sound.

OK, first of all, black-and-white is fine...even fantastic...for 1940s film noir...or 1950s/early 1960s horror. But it added nothing aesthetically to this video. It only made it harder to picture what your setup actually looks like. Secondly, playing records without the dust cover -- or leaving it off when you're not using the turntable -- only invites the number one enemy of vinyl....dust. If you enjoy dust on your records, by all means continue doing what you're doing. Finally, it sounds like you will never truly appreciate the joy and serenity of listening to a carefully assembled sound system in the perfect acoustics and ambience of a dedicated listening room...sitting in a comfortable recliner where your ears catch every note and nuance of the music while your eyes and brain simultaneously enjoy the comfort and companionship of a good book...for hours on end.

The cover album of the Sadies is quite nice. If there are 500 it isn’t a test pressing. However cool that it is a signed version. Of all these the Neil Young seems the most interesting. I by no means want all the Neil Young releases but this one sounds great.

I bought the Hermanos Gutierrez album too, should be here soon. I listened to it after watching their What’s In My Bag video actually. Their sound reminds me a bit of Khruangbin 👍🏻 And Beth Gibbons… hmmm indeed one of the best albums of the year so far! Speaking of which, have you heard the new album from Pakistani singer Arooj Aftab?

Just had a listen to "With or Without You" from Rick White & The Sadies & was struck by the chorus line "Oh what a state I am in". It reminded me that the song The State I Am In" was the sole reason that Belle & Sebastian were chosen by the student run label A&R team at Stow College in Glasgow. The team were struck by the similarity between Stuart Murdoch's voice & Donovan. As the label (Electric Honey) normally produced 1,000 3 track CDs it became clear that Stuart had sufficient material to produce a full album which he insisted was on vinyl & so "Tigermilk" was recorded in one week. The group were signed to Jeepster Records where they delivered further B&S albums & offshoots such as Isobel Campbell. More recently Belle & Sebastian signed to Matador which has benefitted them greatly. I have also found out that they are very popular in South America which is surprising to me for a band that started off in Glasgow, Scotland. Hope you are keeping well Mazzy.✌️🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

Apropos LA punk bands, I've recently bought an album of the Minutemen recorded live at San Francisco's "legendary" [per the sleeve] Mabuhay Gardens. I don't recollect this being a venue in the city which you have ever previously mentioned, and was wondering about the place and how it derives the legendary status.

In the early 70s I worked in an alternative bookstore in Ottawa associated with an “underground” newspaper. We used to get those free promo records intended for review, but Customs would hold them for import duty. No one was interested in them, so I would take the noticed to the post office and pick up random records for just a couple bucks. That’s how I got Bear’s Choice!

I have often felt that McCartney never releases his best stuff, e.g. the extra tracks on the Ram extended, that stuff kicked. The "One Hand Clapping" is the same. A kick ass Paulthat should have been released long ago. Neil is the same.this new /old Crazy Horse stuff is flat out a brilliant release. I hope they both have stuff like this "lying around".

I disagree. There are so many albums that I don’t know about. Mazzy showed some here. Also channels like Vinyl Richie, Psychederek, and Cosmic Vinyl show a great range of albums. Many that are not common at all. If you want a 1974 list, check out Vinyl Richies.
