Saying it's not strictly adhered to or at times improperly implement/explained doesn't mean IT'S A MYTH is an honest title. Considering alone all the designers who have been told how to utilize it as a tool to guide an overall composition, if it wasn't a thing it sure is now. The people trying to fit circles into shapes are misguided. Using circles (utilizing but not limiting) to create shapes and to help determine placement of the creations features is a large part of engineering and design, soooo.... this is rather short-sighted, surface level, and click-baity. I once had a boss who implemented this into literally every CAD drawing he used for structural engineering, and when he showed me how he applied the concept, I instantly started creating stronger and better functioning parts.

A better solution for this problem is to just click the shape > format pane > turn on “Maintain Layer Order”.
