I am a late-40's male with a deep speaking voice who has never pursued my singing seriously because I gravitate toward and only feel comfortable in a high voice, but I just feel like it sounds so unlike my speaking voice that it is sort of embarrassing when it comes out. I tried to put that aside and practice with various youtube videos and I still can't find my natural voice. For example, the "mother" parts Bono does in MOFO at 2:17, kzfaq.info/get/bejne/mbiHldyl39mUnmg.htmlfeature=shared&t=137 - are no problem at all and I am very comfortable right there singing like that but I have no idea how to sing the rest of the song in a lower voice or whatever.

I don't understand why the larynx moves down when singing low notes, since when the larynx moves down it means the CT muscle is stretching the cords, and stretching the cords is supposed to produce higher pitches. It would make more sense if when approaching low notes the larynx were to rise.

Ok so my problem is, I know the difference between when I breath from the diaphragm vs my chest/lungs, but I don’t see it in my stomach (I don’t see me diaphragm moving, but I can feel the difference). I’m not sure if it’s just covered by the LAYERS of fat around my stomach😂 or maybe I’m just not doing it correctly??? Anyone else??

This is why I don’t sing. I know I’m not good at it and u hate how my family asks me to Sing knowing damn well I can’t. If I was good at it I’d be singing left and eighth. Which is why I’m trying to learn how to sing from the diaphragm. I love music and I would like to sing my favorite songs but I don’t because I would butcher the songs 😭

I didn't quite get it, is it necessary or suggested to tense your abs simultaneously? I've been struggling for long to manage improving as a singer, my sound is sufficient but the techniques and hitting the right keys might be difficult occasionally.

Could I just do lip trills and hum instead or does this add something that those exercises do not? Anybody know?
@tomasandrew9354
@tomasandrew9354 14 күн бұрын
I do lip trills and tongue trills as well as humming and then with tip of the tongue touching just behind my upper teeth on the hard palette (I do slides and also do the C major scale up and down my range, from lowest to highest notes, chest and transitioning to head voice), and, for me at least, serves a similar function as the straw. I also do other exercises that have helped me with other aspects of the voice and singing, but as it relates to the straw, the above have worked for me incredibly well.
