Sounds like the VVC system, when it cam lobe switch would occur, if it's faulty, the ECU would cut beforehand

About the "aborted pit stop", I recently heard Galvao Bueno, legendary sports commentator and good friends with Senna, saying that Senna admitted doing that on purpose to check if it'd be faster, just in case he needed. It turned out it WAS faster but he didn't need to do it again.
