I gotta ask, where is this boat now, my buddy owned this boat a few years ago and it got hauled out in Apalachicola and he decided to part with it. I honestly fell in love with this thing

@@nasaboy1982 It sank in Steinhatchee 😞 I was watching it while it was in Apalach, and I’d actually already seen the boat the year prior. My boss owned it and it was in Panama City and we looked at it. It was in bad shape then.

U should put some Bungie cords or nets across the ceiling or even on the walls for the life jackets or even some of the emergency stuff. U could probably do the same thing for some of the cushions n I'm sure there r KZfaq videos that could give u guys some pretty good idea n u would have to build of make anything a permanent place.

A little late this week I was tied up Sunday putting in a new bathroom floor and toilet in one of my apartments. Today it was the vanity and of course I had to relocate some plumbing, but enough of me. Who knew you were such a good writer. I know this is a video but you had to write the script and it was simply amazing. Maybe a new line of work for you. Keep the good stuff coming.

That was a lovely story of life on the mooring field. If you can make it work it’s better than land life!!! Hey I have just been using some self leveling caulk , a Stikaflex self leveling from HD , polyurethane, for concrete ,gray. Unlike regular caulk this is liquid like a resin and flows and sticks to wet surface. I made a dam 1/2” high around my chainplates and filled it with this it flowed into all the cracks and leaky spots. I really think it will work. Maybe it would help with the teak decks . It seems to really flow when wet. If you see it leaking out inside put a bit of tape over until it hardens . The extra hieght of the caulk around chainplate allows any flex to be absorbed before the seal breaks. Just an idea , we did the same many years ago with ‘git-rot’ epoxy that was water thin to stop a tricky deck leak on wood boat. Cheers Warren
@TheSirensLog5 күн бұрын
@@CheersWarren heeeeeey you have a solid point there my friend. Good thinking. I didn’t love the sikaflex because it was so wet and ran, but you’re totally right. When used in the right places, that’s a massive advantage.

@@TheSirensLog defiantly more than one version of skia type products! For teak deck redo , depending on the groove depth I Could see using the self leveling first then going over with the non-sagging type. Cheers Warren

This took you a long while to get to where you can live on a boat. I hope things work out good for you. And with the frustration you must feel at times seems like having what we want is always hard to get and keep. But you came a long way and you will get her done soon I bet. So just keep on keeping on ! She will be taking you guys on an adventure soon.

Well to be fair, I’ve been living on boats since I was a teenager. But this boat will need a ton of work, and it’ll be a lot doing it alone. I’m not saying I can’t, I’m just saying I don’t know if I want to. It’s a lot to tackle, and I don’t have the money in my pocket ready to go, so there are challenges ahead.
@robbyoliver49535 күн бұрын
@@TheSirensLog thanks for the reply I honestly didn’t know you have lived on boats before. And that is a long time so you know what it takes. But to me boats are like cars it all has a life span until it has to be completely rebuilt. The next thing I think is you must ask is it worth it, as far as money wise it is not really in one sense but is in another. So myself I am not interested in the rebuild because of time and my age, money has and may always be a problem. Some do it through using KZfaq and make videos. Hale and you also have the know how. And I don’t. So I would go for a newer boat that is pretty sound so I could get started sooner traveling and making videos to pay for it all. I would try to buy one that is ready to go, or I wouldn’t buy at all. But that is me and not you. If you sell now and have credit (I am sure you do) can you buy one that is ready maybe needing up grades. But you can leave the dock and do the traveling and making videos. Let someone else do the rebuild of that boat. This was why I said all the things I did in the past about not buying boats that need a lot of work. Too me you are going to pay either way, so do you want to spend time and money rebuilding or do you want spend time and money doing the most fun part ? One thing for sure is either way a boat will need work, so I am not going to buy what someone else has used up and let go. But that is me ! My biggest question is, what do you both want, sail full time or do weekend cruising or short trips? Full time sailing I would sell this boat and put money on a boat I can leave the dock in and use KZfaq to pay for it all.

Well, I don’t trust new boats. They’re not built the same. I’ve always had a love for old boats, and all things old and traditional. It’s just who I am. This is a GREAT hull and model. They’re modeled similar to the old Colin Archers which were modeled after the old Norwegian boats that crossed oceans. It’s a classic design that has stood the test of time. So this model as well as other like her, are what I’d want. The trouble is that ANY and EVERY boat reached a point of needing a refit. They’re boats. It’s inevitable. Luckily this one has already had a lot of work done but requires a lot more still. She worth the money and effort. I just don’t know if I can afford it alone. I bought the boat and so far I’m the only one that’s invested money into her, as it was always my dream and goal, but we were both committed to those bigger jobs. We’re no longer together. We will see what happens. Yeah I stared out working on boats in 2008-2009, I was living with my ex on our sailboat, while I’d also purchased my own sailboat, and I was probably 19? I just turned 37, for reference. Then I moved up the coast and moved onto a little houseboat. So different but fun. I crewed on classic sailboats, I worked on yachts, etc. I have a lot of time living on boats. I was never really a “day worker” on boats either. Most of the boats I worked on, I lived on the boat. Then when I went home, sometimes I also lived on a boat. This is my second sailboat, but I can’t tell you how many boats I’ve actually owned. Only God knows that number. Hahaha If you count all the dinghy’s. They often werent registered 🫣 But many were.

@@TheSirensLog I hate to hear about the two of you splitting up. But it happens, so I can’t tell you what is best, as far as newer not being good there is awful lot of them sailing so I can’t argue what is best. But the only thing I can say is maybe you can do a video and show how much is needed to be done. Then maybe your patrons can help with money, but can you do it by yourself? Or do parts of it alone. So just be honest and let us know where you stand in this. And to be honest with you, even if you fix her can you keep her up. I will say there are a lot of ladies doing boat life by themselves. Lauren Landers is a good example. She has done lots of work on her boat. Sounds like you got the experience and probably the know how. So I would bet you can do this alone. But it is up to your resolve. Your viewers will be pulling for you and wishing you well. Lots of people out here can give you advice and some may even say they will help with your refit. Let us know if Hal is part owner of this boat. Tell your viewers/patrons if you have to buy him out. You have came this far so don’t give up now !

Thank you. Yes that’s definitely something I need to go through. I need to do an entire tour of the boat and show what all I need. Someone recommended doing an Amazon wish list. Not a bad idea, I just feel funny “asking” for things”, but having the list would help me clarify what all I need to work toward even if I’m buying. It needs a lot, and money is the issue now. Anything I can’t do, I could pay for help. But is this the boat I want long term? I’d even told Hal, I wanted to fix this boat up, sail it around the upper Caribbean for a bit and then sell and get something bigger. I wouldn’t necessarily go bigger if I’m alone, maybe up to a 42, but this isn’t the ideal layout and I’d gladly switch to MY forever boat. This was meant to be a stepping stone before we got the boat we really wanted so maybe I need to reevaluate what that is. I can do a lot. But inevitably there are things I’ll need a hand with.
