It does a good job for viewing Planets, of course its no SCT at 2300mm but it still takes good video of nice bright objects like planets that you can stack and get very nice results. I thinks its a good starter and you can see larger fuzzies like Andromeda galaxy. One drawback to taking picture of deep space objects you have to use short exposure times, the tracking is not that accurate.

I was all set to buy a continuum filter, but then your video changed my mind. I really didn't see much, if any, difference between filter and no filter in the images. Maybe I'll just pass on the continuum filter for now. I do have a solar wedge coming, so I'll just use that. Thanks for the comparison!!!

Nice., Just subscribed. Ya know, if you have a long x2 Barlow, you can unscrew the hollow tube and use what is left, giving you a x1.5 Barlow. That worked with my Orion Observer 134mm Newtonian. Ultimately, I bought an Orion Space Probe 130mm Newtonian, which has two spacers on the focuser and you can remove one to attain focus if you need to.

What camera are you using? What was the length of the spacers? Out of culmination might make it look a little out of focus. Is the focuser racked all the way inward? If so have you tried to see if using a barlow allows you to find focus, If so then you did not move the morrow far enough forward.

The mount head its self takes 8 AA batteries that will last at least 6 hours. The only power connector is the round I think the size is 5mm plug. You will need that adapter to plug into a power tank if it does not come with one. You can also use a car 12v cigerate lighter abapter and use your car battery.

for using the skyportal you should get a WIFI range extender to slew the mount around. You can either get a long Powered USB3 cable a.co/d/6RjBnZZ (this is the one I use) or use a powered USB3 hub to get the camera to connect to the computer. Now if for some reason the skyportal does not work you will need the RS232 cable www.amazon.com/Celestron-Nexstar-232-Interface-Cable/dp/B0000665UZ/ref=sr_1_5?crid=2VDJOH4BDS9K2&keywords=rs232+cable+for+celestron+telescope&qid=1690693614&s=electronics&sprefix=rs232+cable+for+celestron+telescope%2Celectronics%2C101&sr=1-5 (you might need to copy and past this link to get it to work.) and a 9pin to USB adapter cable www.amazon.com/Sabrent-Converter-Prolific-Chipset-CB-DB9P/dp/B00IDSM6BW/ref=psdc_306629011_t1_B0000665UZ .

I've got this telescope but when I look at things it looks no closer than using my eyes it don't seem to make any difference zooming . ? Maybe broken ?
@AstroPatio
@AstroPatio Жыл бұрын
You got to remember your looking at things very far away and it is a only a 500mm focal length, the stars are always pinpoints you don't notice the difference until you look at things like planets like Saturn and see the space between the rings and the planet or Jupiter and see the bands on the surface and the Galilean moons, you cant see things like that with your eyes only. With the telescope your only looking at a small portion of the sky. depending on the and different eyepieces its bringing closer a bigger or smaller percent of the sky to one eye so it is actually closer. Remember to look up and enjoy the view from our Blue Marble with or with out a telescope.

@AstroPatio
@AstroPatio Жыл бұрын
Im not sure might want to ask Lunt support to make sure. But it looks like you uncrew the pressure knod and unscrew the small cap on the other end and unscrew the allen wrench screw to get the center core out to be able to take the o-ring out of the reses grove and replace it. Then work in the other direction to put it back together. But i would check with Lunt first i could be wrong i have not needed to do it yet.
