Bob Fosse once said about Gene "he was like a man on your bowling team" meaning looking at him one would not know he was a genius & oh so talented!

Gene's style was so different than other dancers he danced with a strong force as if his own life was coming through as if to say "this is who I truly am" protective yet soft & loving take my hand & we will be okay!

That mood is also present when in the end [SPOILER ALERT] she sings a pretend-hypnotized song about her longing for the pirate and end up sliding down with her back to a pole, singing/moaning "Oh ... oh ... oh ..." 😇

I thought that performance was such a surprise already! Like "Wauw, they are really going "Id" and "Subconscious" with that little obedient, modest, bride-to-groom-not-of-her-choice-to-be! I didn't know Judy Garland ever did stuff like this!" It oozed unleashed powers even in it's apparently very censored version. I would love to see what has been cut out, but really, the aura, or mood, or what you'd call it, is palpable even as is.

This scene with Jimmy and Harry is so powerful. There's so much emotion and understanding without saying any of it out loud. Jimmy knows Harry is eaten up with guilt, and he gives him a perfect blend of sternness and kindness, without ever embarrassing Harry or specifically naming the thing they both know Harry feels guilty for. Jimmy really shines as a supporting character here. He is a good man, through and through.
