55:37 A Moment of Performative Contradiction: Jordan Peterson says, "You shouldn't pick problems that are bigger than the ones that you can solve." And John Vervaeke, noticing this performative contradiction, replies, "I disagree with you on that; we are doing it right now!"

Hey man! These theories might be an insight to such people who don’t get what they want but they are never the solution. People who don’t get what they want just need to stop wanting. I’ve never ever in my entire life got anything g thing that I wanted. I just don’t try to want anything anymore because the moment I want it I wouldn’t get it. It’s kind of a curse

I was curious to see, on this feast day of St. George (23 April), whether I could find video footage of Jordan Peterson blithering semi-coherently about St. George, and I was not disappointed. Good heavens he looks significantly less haggard in this clip than he does now, doesn't he? His propaganda career hasn't been good for his health, not to mention his tranquillizer addiction.

Great conversation. Both have refined these ideas a lot in the last eight years. About 1.5 hours on did JBP start the 4 p’s?

To the person who posts this nonsense… Can you explain to me why you feel the need to present the ramblings of an obvious crank? Jordan Peterson is not a scientist of any stripe, he is not recognized as an expert of any kind even within the field of clinical psychology. His work is not referenced, he is not famous for anything other than lying about a federal bill within Canada. That being established… Why are you presenting his obvious bullshit as some kind of wisdom?

It’s remarkable to me that this guy was given a professorship. But not surprising that the university didn’t want him and that Professor Bernard Schiff had to actually fight for him to get his position. What’s more is good old Bernard was right about Peterson’s lecturing style. It’s more like preaching instead of actually teaching. That’s all he’s doing here. He’s rambling. He’s not a biologist and he’s not an anthropologist and he’s not a very good psychologist either his reliance upon Carl Jung is childish to the point of being pathetic. And it’s interesting that he doesn’t seem to pop out some citations to demonstrate where he gets his information. But then again this is his lecture and it goes the way he wants I just… Find it rather strange that he seems to be… Making things up as he goes along and giving us basically his opinion. I would’ve liked to of taken one of his classes at the University of Toronto. I would’ve hammered him by asking for citations and referencing points for evidence. I’ve had some bad professors in the past, but this guy? He’s basically a well-dressed homeless man shouting at pigeons in the Park. If I recall correctly he was also an alcoholic for quite a long time. Not surprising because he fits the symptoms of being a dry drunk. Then of course there was benzodiazepine addiction which I found rather fascinating because… He being a clinician, you would think he would know how dangerous benzodiazepines can be. Isn’t he an expert? He constantly seems to remind the world that he is. That somehow… The danger of his benzodiazepine use flew over his head. And then of course there was a treatment in Russia. As a clinician, if I recall correctly, his specialty was addiction. Mini addiction experts would say that what he did was not only dangerous but also unethical. Is it possible that he didn’t want to face that he was a man with a weakness? His smug arrogance it’s quite obvious, even before he became known for lying about Bill C 16. That’s what I think is so strange about this man… Why lie about a law? And the years that I’ve been watching Jordan Peterson I’ve come to believe that he is highly mentally unwell. He’s a little more stable in this lecture but in other lectures I’ve seen and other interviews and appearances on television… He looks unbalanced. He can be an interesting man that makes some pretty good observations. But other than that? He would’ve been better off being a literature critic instead of masquerading as a psychologist. The very fact that this man, this man who seems mentally unwell and seems to live in his own head, was a therapist for far too long is disturbing to me. Jordan Peterson who seems to have an overly inflated opinion of himself, while also believing in some really fantastical things doesn’t strike me as someone that is capable of providing psychological care to the distressed. As of anything? He’s the one who needs not only psychological care but I think he needs to be committed.

@@cheesycheese7100 no not at all actually good because I feel bad for you and those who follow Jordan Peterson. He’s a very sick man. He’s not that bright. He’s basically the equivalent of Jim Jones just a more articulate version. Instead of making his followers and just cyanide laced Kool-Aid… He’s just going to tether you to him and drag him down into his madness. The funniest part I should say the most tragic part… Is all those whom say that they are better because of Peterson? They seem to… Still have the same problems with the failures of capitalism, their fear of women their lack of getting laid, or their lack of fulfillment with daily life. The reason I find it so strange is because… shouldn’t wisdom lead you to improvement instead of limping along…?

Yes, entertainment; JP is an exquisite comedy writer with the good sense and beauty of timing. This is no small feat, given the complexity, dark nature difficulties of psychological conditions of humanity.

if you are in a perfect garden, you don't check out the snake. Because you put the meaning into; garden, perfect, snake. Meaning is what our organism metaphors into meaning. No man is an island except the Isle of Man. If you and your comrades are in a room with one seat, that seat is for the king. If you and your comrades are in a room with all the seats, then everyone has a seat.

After watching Peterson speak in many different discussion, I think I now understand why he talks so much. It's his way of assimilating and understanding what his interlocutor is saying. Teaching something is one of the best ways to test your understanding, and he developed a literal reflex based on this. Most people will introspect what they just learned, but he expels outward and his brain registers from the actual words he says. Quite fascinating.

Jordan is very good with monologues, he gets very deep with them, but John is outstanding at conversation, many of his conversations become a real dance between two or more people if he finds the right conversation partner.
