That could be more compact. The "accordion" part of those lifts would resize shorter if those constructors were closer to the splitters. And if there were no lifts and the splitters were on the ground it would be even more compact...

I got about as far as the constructors on this. I wasn't able to line up the merger from the bottom smelters. Not sure if i put anything up to that point in the wrong place, but everything was placed as the video shows up to that point. I hooked up the lift to the constructor tried to put the merger on, then when i put the lifts onto the smelters they were a click off. Everything else up to that point was going perfect. Any input on how i can get that lined up would be great.

Is there anything wrong with spaghetti and clipping or is it just because its ugly
@DrLootCrate
@DrLootCrate 26 күн бұрын
Nah. You do you. Mostly because it is ugly. But, when building at scale for something large, it is much easier to keep track and route things if it is organized. But mostly it is just personal preference

I'm planning on cleaning up my factory (started playing a couple of weeks ago) but my laptop is averaging 15fps and regularly drops down to 0.04fps on the lowest settings with a small factory so I'm waiting on my new gaming PC that'll arrive in the next 10 to 15 business days (two to three weeks) For those who want to know the specs AMD Ryzen 7 7700 | 5.3 GHz | 8 Cores 16 Threads Gigabyte RTX 4070Ti Super Windforce OC - 16GB 32GB Lexar Ares RGB 6400MHz CL32 DDR5 (2x16GB)

I tend to run belts and splitters under the factory floor in their own separate "hallway" systems and then bring their resources up via lifts. I also never put up walls until the entire belt and factory system is completed and working. Then I design the buildings around them, basically letting the layout of the machines and belts dictate the shape of the building. Doing it that way, I get some wacky building shapes, which makes for some nice visual interest. The biggest thing that informs my factory layout is determining from which direction I want raw resources to enter my factories and which direction I want their end products to leave them. My general strategy is to make everything exit on the same side, so that raw resources all come in one way and finished products all leave another way. It makes laying out train lines and distribution centers and warehouses really easy.

Nice idea, I will dress this up into alternating blueprints :) you don't need extra mergers for output, just belt the first lift to the other

You can make it a lot neater if you use the entire foundations (3 conveyors per foundation per stackable pole level) because then you can fit upto 9 conveyors per 4x4x4 meter areas and easily drag it across the world grid clipping on different resources with perfectly satisfactory 90 degree angles

I dont know if y'all know but you can delete blueprints with one click. And if you put a bp on floor and delete someting you dont need do go to hotbar again. You can just copy a complete bp that as already put on ground. Just changing the delete mode for blueprint and click in midle mouse boton

Just use sushi belts?
@DrLootCrate
@DrLootCrate 2 ай бұрын
It is possible but not very practical. Sushi belts in practice backed up and grind to a halt. You can get around that by putting in overflow splitters but then it becomes more complicated than non-sushi belts
@quantumxalt2834
@quantumxalt2834 2 ай бұрын
@@DrLootCrate Well yeah, but simplicity isn't the goal, space efficiency is, right?
@DrLootCrate
@DrLootCrate 2 ай бұрын
I don’t think it is more space efficient either as you would have to add an awesome sink to stop everything from clogging up over time and that is huge. Plus the smart splitters and mergers to do the overflow into one
