Dot=faster more accurate better target discrimination. Irons=wont run out of batteries Although I like a thin front sight post almost as much as a dot.

Great reminder video , over time we tend to become complacent and when we become complacent we get dead or maybe someone we love standing nearly!

My finger is my safety is only true if your finger is the only thing could pull the trigger but it is not, there are numerous factors that could cause ND, gears and other stuff. The golden rule is, if the rifle is pointed toward a target you are about to shoot safety comes off other than that, SAFETY ON ALL THE TIME!!
@FeguerFineArt3 күн бұрын
I was taught right from the get-go, that if you are not about to shoot keep your safety on at all times. No exceptions. It started with my BB gun. That was in the 70's.

I hear all the tacticool operators in KZfaq saying that manual safeties in our carry handguns are dangerous because in a moment of stress we are going to forget to disengage it. But some how the same people don't have any problem with the safeties in their carbines. Mmm we as civilians have to learn to filter all the BS that is so prevalent in the training industry. Reid, I like your technique, very 1911ish wich I already practice with my carry handgun, a 1911. Your told the same reasons I refuse to carry a handgun without a manual safety or a proper DA trigger and why I'm called a fud all the time. I don't care, me and only me have to live with my risk assessment and my options.

Agree. If deer hunting, Ill keep the safety off on a R 700 platform, but 'hands on humans?' I want a few 'layers' for them to figure out....

Any thoughts on off brand rifles? Like how the safety of the m1a is within the trigger guard
@jeffmitchell36255 күн бұрын
Yep in any pressure situation safety comes off and stays off until threat level is gone It's way more important to have good muzzle control. The only time I turn the safety on is if I took up my mag out emptied it put it on safety It's handing it to another person loaded.

This was definitely true. Started on SWAT in the ‘90’s and learned safety off when we were operational. The instructors who taught this were former FBI SWAT and a retired Seal Team 6 guy. Took quite a bit to later unlearn that and the first time I went to a school that taught safety on I was resistant it it eventually stuck.
