Both X1's are too clunky looking for my tastes. I still love my og gpd win mini. Hope somebody designs upgraded sticks, they get the job done but I feel they can be improved. I mean they are the same as the Win Max2.

Excellent video!! I have a quick question tho, does your controller connector discharge battery at an alarming rate? Mine can be fully charged and set aside and left unused for a few days and as soon as i turn it on the light is flashing indicating super low battery power
@okestgamer
@okestgamer Күн бұрын
I had noticed that my connector had died a couple of times. Later I fully charged it and then it seemed fine. I will say I did not get a chance to test that part out further. I'll have to see with my Intel X1 if that is the case with the connector
@According2AshShow

@@okestgamer ya I mean it's kinda nuts how much of the battery gets discharged without it even being used, going unused a couple of days after being freshly fully charged and as soon as I turn it on the blue light starts flashing in those 1/2 sec intervals to indicate super low battery, it's kinda disheartening and a real bummer 😞

Is this a joke? You review a handheld and only test it plugged in at 30 w? No word about the noise of the fans?
@okestgamer
@okestgamer Күн бұрын
No it's not a joke lol, it's a early first look review. With this review I get the device for a short period to do some testing and filming so the more detailed performance tests will need to wait until I get my device I'm purchasing. Fan noise is also entirely dependent on what settings you use, and if you set a custom fan curve. Closest comparison I can make is with the legion Go for the noise. First look reviews are literally that, a first look and some early testing. Detailed reviews I only put out after using a device for awhile to actually test it out fully. I suggest joining on of the weekly live streams hosted in the onexplayer discord to get more specific questions answered. I also hosted one for a couple of hours where we had gone through answering questions people had.

Other improvements many of us have discussed in Discord we would like to see for the X2 or later generation X series. - built in kickstand - like the Legion Go or Microsoft Surface Go - 8TB internal SSD support AND 8TB expandable slot support - bigger trackpad on keyboard - if possible, haptics like the MacBook and better spread-out touch - USB-C placement bottom side left of the device for in laptop use, top top left (to allow bigger controller), the right-side USB-A and micro-SD slot may also need to be moved bottom side right and top top right. USB 4.2 hopefully would be available by then with its purported 80Gbps speed meaning occulinc no longer required and freeing up physical space on the top of the device for those USB-C/A placements.
@okestgamer
@okestgamer 2 күн бұрын
Those all sound pretty good. Only challenge with trackpad right now is the accidental presses when I hit space bar at times
@AdmiralBison
@AdmiralBison 2 күн бұрын
1Net simply needs to make better controllers for the X1 - We've all discussed this in the discord. Basically copy the Steam deck layout - Bigger controls allows for better spacing, alignment (especialy for D-pad and right thumbstick). better balance for the whole unit because it is both top and bottom heavy. The new controls allow for = 2 x trackpads, 4 x back buttons/pedals would like 1Net to sell either as premium extras (don't be afraid to charge significantly more) - have 4 x shoulder buttons (still keep 2 x triggers) - have 4 x macro buttons next to the 4 x shoulder buttons (something similar to Ayaneo's handhelds) - blue tooth If at all possible can be used without a bridge connector. quality test to make sure of a sturdy connection to the tablet and not loose like many of us are experiencing. Charge a lot more if needed. This is a premium top of the top handheld after all.
@okestgamer
@okestgamer 2 күн бұрын
I personally was cool with the controllers but after reading some comments I can see where people are coming from. I purposely didn’t watch any reviews or read input from others before the review to go in blind. I would personally like a little thicker grips
@KarmavanSynth
@KarmavanSynth 2 күн бұрын
For me a big issue I've had with many handhelds is the placement of the right thumbstick. I find it too low on most of them. I had an Ayaneo in the past and for me the right thumstick placement was it's biggest minus. Looking at the placement on this OneXPlayer is reason enough for me to not get one. I currently own a Steam Deck Oled and a Legion Go and I find the ergonomics perfect on both.
@AdmiralBison
@AdmiralBison 2 күн бұрын
Definitely. They don't test these enough and yes the X1 right tumbstick is too low and directly under. It's meant to be off center and higher up, this allows thumbs to more naturally shift left and right between buttons and thumb stick as well as not having to reach over the right thumbstick to access the buttons. Also same for Dpad because for fighting games, especially with the 10.95' X1 you have to bring your thumb really down for those lower half circle motions. Also if the controllers were made bigger it allows for better space the select and start buttons are too close to the keyboard and desktop button that one can accidentally press the wrong ones. Also if the controllers were made bigger if fits the looks of the size of the whole unit too instead of looking like a tablet with a couple small xbox controllers attached...which it kind of is.

A lot of gamers will use some form of upscaling or frame gen whenever they are gaming on a PC handheld (at least in demanding AAA titles). That's simply because the SoC's are somewhat lacking when it comes to overall performance and the low amount of frame rates they typically put out. One saving grace about using upscaling on them, is that any artifacting that you typically get from using it, is far less visually noticible on thier smaller displays, than it is on a larger display. If anything, it's actually showing a good application of using upscaling. It's the kind of situation where upscaling should actually be used and where it is hugely beneficial for that extra boost to frame rates that it gives. So since most people will be using it, why on Earth wouldn't you show the typical kind of performance results that gamers could expect, when using it? Yep, I'd agree with you on a gaming/desktop PC with a dedicated GPU, where upscaling really isn't a nessesity and will often greatly skew any results. But on an PC heldheld, where upscaling is often a nessesity and where most people will likely be using it anyway, then I personally have no quarms when a review then shows off results, while using it.
