Hi, Im new to sailing. its pretty impressive what your doing. I bought a boat and moved aboard due to the dream Ive had for a while. Van Life to boat life is my story. That's not a big problem , you have two head stays so it can just be taken off and tig welded ..

There's sailing companies that accept fees to become part of the crew. Cooking, steering, watchtower, etc of all things to sail. Costly, but I've been planning a trip like that. Some from Nova Scotia to Easter Island, some Hawaii to Bahamas, there's even a 614 day sail around the world one, 7 days trips all the way up to the 614 day trip. Considering a 14 day, but not the point I'm making. Real wooden ship & sails and the authentic experience. No lame yachting sea traveling so the experience is much more valuable in my opinion. Learning the lines and ropes, sails ect. Stating this because I see no reason why you couldn't do the same thing. Set your dates, organize the crew, set a price, & set some destinations.

Be sure you ventilate the space really well. You could have had an exhaust leak and filled the compartment with exhaust. Make you sick or pass out. Always have a second person around when you do enter that area. Never alone.

I had a Formoda 51 too. Dont think they are sloe! I averaged 13 knots over about 24 miles. Get her off the wind a bit and the go like freight trains. Also if you have a spinnaker, use it. Thrse boats make a great platform
