Ppl dont understand that yeti is an investment, other brands the ice doesn't last as long so you are paying more for ice so that's one thing to go off of

You can make cheaper coolers perform better. Add a weatherstrip gasket and one or two latches. None of the cheap ones are airtight, make them so. The latch(es) allow you to compress your aftermarket gasket a bit. kzfaq.info/get/bejne/oMlpeNidl6zcYIE.htmlsi=lXipzQg-AC-dT-yY

You can't go by Yeti model numbers to determine capacity. A Yeti 45 is actually a 32 quart cooler.

For the extra $250 the Yeti costs, I can buy a lot of ice to keep a cheaper one cold. That’s insane.

I'm sorry, if you think paying that price for a cooler you need help. Most coolers are used for only a couple days at a time, maybe 3 days on holiday weekends. A $30 cooler will be just fine. Get some ice melt, pay the couple of bucks and buy another bag. A wise man once said a fool and his money are soon parted.

The problem with rubber gaskets is that over time, rubber dries out. Modern rubber material may be different though.

In the old home groups, they often say that if you're starting with a completely uninsulated home, you're best off putting starting with air sealing (eliminate drafts around doors, windows, etc) and then put 100% of your insulation budget into the attic until that's up to modern standards. Heat rises, and while insulation in the walls is important, most of your heat is lost through the roof. That looks like what Yeti did. They insulated the top better than the other 2, and it performed better. They also keep the sides flat. I'm not sure that the extra width of the sides at the top of the Amazon cooler is that beneficial. Probably would have been better if that extra insulation was in the top instead of the top of the sides.

I have had 2 yetis and an orca, they all suck, my coleman 100 outperformed them all, get a 12volt fridge and ditch the ice bs altogether, what good is a 54 quart cooler if half tge volume has to be ice, been serious overlanding for a few years now and camping my whole life the 12v fridge is far superior

The best "cooler" I've ever bought by far is a Bouge RV portable fridge. It cools down to -8 degrees (or the hottest mine will get to is 50 degrees) runs on 12 volts and without power keeps food cold for a day or so.

When you are on a week long camping trip the yeti kept our food/drinks chilled for the whole week. Expensive but worth it if you are using it for what it’s meant for. I won’t touch anything else. I want a stake dinner on the boundary waters on day 5.

I work for big brown and I’m looking at all this crazy specific information for reasons like this. The floor in the delivery truck is not heat shielded from the exhaust, and it gets so hot it burns waffles into my knees when I kneel down for small packages stuck in corners. It’s gonna be 104° tomorrow, and something as minuscule as insulation thickness on the bottom is exactly what I’m looking at. It’s most likely going to have some heavy shit fall on it, as we deliver up to 150lbs and stuff falls over while driving all the time. I can’t control when people cut me off. I have to expect that it will occur every day because I cannot guarantee it won’t. I also hate buying shit twice. Probably gonna get a yeti.

What a shame cutting up the coolers and then what? Throwing them in a land fill? Why didn't you just look up their patents?
