FYI, the closer the target is to the gimbal, the more it must slew to try and hit the target so I'd say you did a pretty amazing job at the very short distance used. I would suggest trying this at a further distance, I bet it hits more darts.

why not divide the system into intercepting mode and aim assist mode? like maybe add a switch at the side to switch between this two mode or make 2 levels of trigger to lock target and track or shoot (half trigger to lock the roi and start track, full trigger to shoot) maybe that helps to solve the ROI glitched and track the wrong target? then maybe for the intercepting mode use higher fps and for normal aim assist lower fps should be enough? hope this helps cuz IMO to merge these 2 function together and make it fully auto needs work than just seperating them
