When I animate, every character has 2 layers, the main, and the mouth.

I forgot about this. In the happy face section in the store at the beginning I was the first one on the left. (Nicole) I loved the part where it referenced that the canvas was 900x900px.

You should make a video how you do that whatever you draw it looks very appealing! Even when you draw it intentionally low quality look like. PS. If you already did, please forgive me, I must forgot it. 😞

I've been signing and dating my art since day one, I have kind of a paranoia that makes me want people KNOWING that it was I who made it even, if it's amateurish art. About the the dates, I came here ready to disagree with you but... you actually made a very good point for me to think about. And it's also funny that this age bias seems to get reversed after the artist dies lmao.

I put a date separate from the signature and in a place that can easily be cropped out, usually in a corner, because I have a bad memory of when I do things.

i recently went from the super clean lines you describe to practically no lineart at all and i dont think ill ever go back, for these exact reasons
@sashascarah65332 күн бұрын
I sign and date my art, I actually zoom in and sign along the outer lineart really small so it's not typically noticeable at a glance until you look closer. I date them because I like knowing when I finished them and I'd definitely forget if I didn't add it

Bad take. A really bad one. When I see an old date (2003-2008) on a good picture, I like it even more
@verdigris14572 күн бұрын
Yee... I'd rather date my art so that only the real ones end up seeing it and all the mongrels who think that "if it was made last week it's too old and therefore bad" can go to hell and end up bothering me less
@TheFireMonkey2 күн бұрын
I used to put a date, I stopped, but only because I felt I did not want a bunch of stuff that was not actually a part of the art - purely aesthetics. I do find it interesting that you feel dating art reduces the value, since traditionally the opposite has always been held - that said, digital art and non-digital art do tend to have some inherent differences. I would say that it also depends on why you do art [which may vary with the piece of art] - while I'd never say no to profits, that has never been why I do art and as I am not a businessman in any sense of the word, nor do I wish to be, the fact is I am unlikely to ever make much money from my art - so that is not a factor in my choices normally. I simply would have no idea how to market my art and have already learned that site which pretend to help artists market their work don't - they give you a platform to sell from, but marketing is really all up to you. But I do art as a way to express myself, so as long as I can do that, I am happy.

since i just draw for a hobby and do it on paper i always date my art if i want to look back on my art. i don't think it's really productive to the discussion though since it's more about digital and professional art

Am I a visual artist? No. Do I love learning about technical stuff regardless of my ability to practice it? Yes. Side note, my aunt is a professional artist and always told me to sign and date my art (when I was little and still finding out what I had an affinity and patience for). It was all physical paper, I think the point then was to help me keep track of my own progress.

My favorite signature integration to art I commisioned was the artist showing a letter explaining the series of events, signed by them.
