I did this twice and it keeps slipping on the spider gear when torquing it down, its really hard to do at home with a jack and limited space. Now its wobbly and leaking oil..
@RedsVolkswagenRepair
@RedsVolkswagenRepair 2 ай бұрын
If you use the tool correctly it should press the crank pulley into the spider gear. It only lines up one way correctly though, there is a “toothed key” that you have to feel out by loosely turning the pulley to match it up then put the tool on and snug the bolt down by hand. Now that you say that though, to keep the crank from turning over when you’re tightening down the bolt, there is a crank lock tool that I forgot to specify. Sorry about that.

This was a genuine part. It was an extra I had laying around. It’s actually for the newest body style of Tiguan (Mk2/MQB) and is the exact same as far as dimensions go. @RedsVolkswagenRepair
@RedsVolkswagenRepair 4 ай бұрын
Funny you ask. I just finished up a water leak nightmare yesterday on ours but didn’t make a video on it. I replaced all four of the sunroof drain pipes because they shrank in length and popped out of the grommets which put 6 inches of water on the floor boards. That fixed the major water leak but then after water testing it, there was still a minor leak on three corners right above the grommet connections at the top. I took out the rear glass and just activated the front glass and stopped it at the middle of the car. Looking at the sunroof track from above the car you can see where the edge of the metal track sits on top of the plastic framing. At the edge of the metal framing I applied a thin layer of RTV to cover up the mating spot on all four corners and so far so good. I wish I could share a picture on here to show you but I can’t. The only other fix would be replacing the entire sunroof frame assembly. Hope this helps. Don’t forget to subscribe if you haven’t already, thanks!

(Shifted fine, no issues) Replaced new filter, and new pan gasket and fluid level tube. Did a fill with 6 liters of Liquimoly atf 1200. Got the temp up to 40°C, dropped the drain plug while it was running. Here's the strange thing. I got a steady stream of fluid the whole time, never did get the trickel like you mentioned.
