Appreciate this one. I love technology, and sometimes hate it as well (been in IT industry for decades). One of the tough challenges I find is balancing between privacy, using only local devices (not reliant on a third party that might close tomorrow and leave bricked devices), and affordability. Trying to find that sweet spot ends up making it an unpaid, part-time job if I'm not careful.

Potential, but paying for promised features is always a concern. This looks like a sponsored or paid incentive (even a free unit) video without any visual and/or audio statement. This is an FTC no-no and a major question to your credibility - a long term subscriber.

I had to re-watch my own video, and while I don't think I hid it, I did not mention the iSG was sent to me for my review - I have added a note in the video description stating that! Thanks for keeping me honest! - That said the opinions were mine and I was free to say what I wanted - this was not a sponsored video - if someone wants to pay me I would be happy to mark the video as such! :-) - As I said in the video, I probably will not use it myself - but I think its a great option for people looking to get started and not ready for home assistant - I will continue to recommend it! - thanks for watching, and thanks for supporting the channel!

This sounds perfect for me, love my smart home but NOT into the hours of trial and error, HA makes one do. So when you say locally controlled, what exactly does that mean and to you? If you have a certain device that a company just flat out stops, can one still use and control it? I ordered one about 5 weeks ago, of course it's a pre order, so I am still researching this and HA, so when it arrives I will be prepared, thanks for sharing!
@yoyoTechKnows

Exactly what most of my friends say! Locally controlled means you don't need internet at all for things to work - the device and the iSG talk directly to each other no cloud dependency! Thanks for watching!

Can you add this device to your existing home assistant instance? As in can I just use it as a hub/control device?
@yoyoTechKnows
@yoyoTechKnows 5 күн бұрын
Yes, the last update allowed you to connect to another local instance of home assistant, just like the one running on the device - but I have not had a chance to try this yet - I don't see why it would not work since it's just acting like a bride - so devices added the iSG would be exposed to HA and vise versa! Following this tutorial, I got so many errors. Custom Button card doesn't exist, Mushroom template card doesn't exist, weather, etc. I just installed Home Assistant for the first time and came to this tutorial trying to add a font, and it seems the way he does his tutorials, I need to watch all his videos for them to work. As an expert KZfaqr, I'd recommend doing tutorials in a way that references everything you need to do the tutorial without trying to search through your old videos.

Thank you so much for this video I have just finished converting my dashboards from multiple embedded custom grid layout cards to using the Button-card method you have described. The button-card method simplifies the code and allows much easier card placement, however I did stumble into an issue After converting my kitchen dashboard to use button-cards running on a Fire Tablet using Fully Kiosk the dashboard would occasionally fail to load when triggered by the kitchen movement sensor. Reverting the dashboard to the grid layout version the dashboard would load successfully every time. I am running the latest version of HA which ATTOW is 2024.6.3 I found reference to the issue under "custom:button-card fails to show intermittently on dashboards in ha-2023.4.xx" in github Implementing the suggested fix which forces the Button-card code to load after Lovelace cards has fixed the problem. I hope this might help anyone who has the same issue.

Depending on the situation, I turn off the IR night vision especially on the smaller Flex cameras - the G5 Bullet Pro does a nice job I find - and compared to some I have used in the past, I find that at least the Unifi have some good adjustment controls that seem to actually make a change in real time - would be great if there was a way to have a day/night profile with custom settings! - thanks for watching, and for the feedback!

I have fast internet service and it has worked very well - that said I am running it over my wifi, so that is my limitation not the internet connection! I would say the only reason it would not work over 1GB service is if you provider was blocking it - you would just need to use a VPN like surfshark - www.kqzyfj.com/click-101201929-15438544 - thanks for watching!

Thanks for watching - you can add a hard drive to the cloud key if you don't have one already - you should be able to simply install unifi protect and add some cameras using PoE or a wirelss unifi camera (I prefer the wired if you can). Start with one and add as needed. I ran all of mine off a cloud key for a while before I upgraded to the dream machine!

Do you know about swapping the sound from and to the Arc and after a update other Sonos soundbars except the Playbar? That’s a real Sonos feature that you might have mentioned? It would have been nice to have that WiFi connection to other Sonos products though. Not being able to listen lossless with Apples iPhone is plain ridiculous. They should fix that too. The Sonos Ace is a Wifi/Bluetooth device and should be used better in the eco system.

I spoke to Sonos and they acknowledged the problem. They said a lot of customers had contacted them asking the same question. I suspect they will address this in the future with either software or most probably with Arc2. It’s a crowded market and disappointing your loyal customers with poorly thought through apps and oversights like the headphones only being for solo use is a bit of an own goal.

Come on. This does have a connection with the Sonos ecosystem. Only with Arc right now, but it will expand to Beam and Ray soon (they're probably busy trying to fix the terrible new app right now). Apparently they said that they did try making wifi headphones prototypes but it was either the battery life sucked or the headphones would feel too heavy. They didn't want either so they made this mainly Bluetooth headphones but still with P2P wifi capabilities with Arc (and Beam and Ray, in the future). So it's like how Apple only made the latest Apple Pencil to only work with the latest top of the line iPad, instead of making it compatible with older generation iPads too. And many other examples from many other companies that do this practice.
@yoyoTechKnows
@yoyoTechKnows 18 күн бұрын
