I’ve always had an issue being a heavy vaulter lacking power at takeoff while being under. Is there any advice on how to not lean back while planting?

It would have been a game changer to have the technology, equipment, and expert coaching back in 1977! My name is Rod Lambe, I set the Meadowdale High School record in Pole-Vaulting in 1977 at 14.8.25 feet. It was a discipline and sport that I loved. I have held this record to this very day 47 years and would love to coach a vaulter to beat it! I wish all you high school and college pole-vaulters to go for your dreams. You can do this with the right commitment, discipline, and being coachable. Let's go for your dreams!

Please voice your opinion if you agree that I'm right. 74% of all catastrophic injuries and fatalities are due to the lethal "steel box" sunken in concrete!! It's not necessary to use steel and concrete in the fabrication of the box. It can be eaily made of softer composite material or plywood on rubber mulch.
@tbhfoo1
@tbhfoo1 5 ай бұрын
Hi! Did you see my comments about the steel box? We, as parents and coaches can change that to a soft pliable box very easily by refusing to go along with the UCS and other pole manufacturers that heavily influence the High school and collegiate rule committees.

Look up the paraplegic girls and boys in wheel chairs who landed in the box or on the concrete pad. They are coached to blame themselves just like you!! Sorry but you won't be able to speak to the ones who died.

Your putting out this video because you know I'm right and you are good heartedly trying to save others from what you call "your mistakes". It's the box and technique. Not your lack of warm up!!!

The is also an easier way to bend any pole that is impossible with the current box!
@tbhfoo1

I spent three days in the hospital by landing from 16 feet plus in the air. Concrete shouldn't be used in the plant box area. It's not your fault ! It's the coaches and lazy people who already know the box should be redesigned!!!

Funny how you blame yourself and not the "steel box with sharp edges sunk into concrete"??? Ask your coach why it has to be such hard materials??? See what he says!

I am a vaulter at a small liberal arts college. I’ve recently found that I can correctly bend a 15 foot pole but it ejects me right above the box, where I nearly pee my pants. I see that I don’t have the strong, fast swing up that many pro vaulters have. I had just recently accomplished a tall take off thinking it would be enough to solve all my problems. Far from it, I feel like I have more now. May I get some advice on a drill or two (from anyone) that will help me learn this snappy trail leg the pro’s seem to have?

Hello. M English is not good enough, but if I have understand your technique : don't tak of UNDER it's false. It's better to take off UNDER ( little or long distance) in ever case. The distance is fonction off your power( speed, detente and the strong th of your "ischiaux" ...). You can see all the greatest pole vaulters are under. I am coach of Pole valt. Are wise, even if it's a very good technique for you or your brother, for me each pole valter must have his own technique from the beginner to to end. For me it's no universal rule. En FRançais : Pour le piquet en general on doit (we must) etre plus ou moins en dessous selon le rapport de sa puissance(detente vitesse, épaules...) et celle de la perche.

Hey I need your help. I’m trying to learn how to straight pole better. My main issues with straight poleing are locking out my bottom arm and spinning around when I invert up. I know the reason why I’m spinning is because I’m locking out the bottom arm but even when I don’t lock the bottom arm I still spin around and land on the mat facing the runway. How can I fix this issue?

I've been vaulting for about two months and i'm vaulting 9'6'' but without a turnover. Whenever I turn over I hip the bar (I can get over 9 with a turnover) and I was wondering if 9'6'' is too low to use this because I'm not in the air for as long?

I pole vaulted yesterday with 0 practice because we don’t have a pole vault pit or coach that knows how it works, but the other team had a pit, so I decided to give it a go. I got 9’0, which autoqualifies me for regionals since there are hardly any pole vaulters in our league. I’m hoping I can learn the turn and arm extension in 8 days with no practice (sounds unrealistic I know). I want to reach 10’6 in regionals which would qualify me for the sectional semis.
