bevor ww2 they made it with BaO2 and Phosphoric acid because they could make higher concentrations in first step (16%). i think only one H atome from the Phosphoric was used. Because with sulfuric acid not all BaO2 will react the insuloble sulfate will isulate the BaO2 from the acid.

The catalysts from brick 1 out of an automobile catalytic converter have an ideal catalyst for making nitrogen dioxide. The coating is platinum rhodium 5 to 10%. The irony is that under the strongly reducing conditions in the exhaust stream, this brick removes nitrogen oxides. For industry, the catalyst is made of hair fine wire with a bit more rhodium, usually 85%Pt and 15%Rh😮

I am absolutely amazed that how stable sodium azide is...200 C is not enough to cause major decomposition. But if you had even the slightest trace of copper, lead, silver in that boat that experiment would have turned out quite differently!

Also your percentage is about 28% because the nitrous acid that is made helpt making the hydrazoic acid but it also destroys the hydrazoic acid HN3+7HNO2=10NO+4H2O

Now i have it. My design would be pump, air hose ,t connector bevore the ammonia tank the hose from the ammonia tank goes to another t connector here they meet with the hose from the valve and the one to the catalyst pipe or chamber. You can maintaine combustion with the valve when you open it you have less ammonia and more air vis ver. to much air brown smoke to much ammonia withe smoke. :)

HNO3 decomposes under heat to form 4HNO3=2H2O+4NO2+O2 de water builds up and the oxygen gets out of solution the NO2 dissolves in solution and form nitrous acid 2NO2+H2O=HNO3+HNO2 so than the HNO2 reacts further to form HN3 and reacts with AgNO3+HN3=AgN3+HNO3
