My palate is 38mm and my tongue is 2 inches wide, but I still have scalloping on my tongue. Why?
@headshouldersteethtongue8292
@headshouldersteethtongue8292 Ай бұрын
Impossible to assess your mouth without seeing it. It might mean that your airway is weak and using compensating muscle action to shove your tongue against your teeth. It may mean something else completely. It would be best to have an evaluation by an airway dentist.

I can not say if something is good without seeing it. Plus intermolar width is just one measurement. I always suggest seeing someone who knows how to assess your entire mouth.

i don't know i read somewhere that when u smile u cannot see more than 6 teeth in the front, then u have a narrow palate , also when i try to put my tongue on roof it's just edges of tongue which doesn't get aligned and lies on the teeth. idk if it's small, if it is how can i fix it. i', 23? is it too late? also my front two teeth are really wide, that's why i can't see more than 6 teeth?

Sounds like you might benefit from a visit to an orthodontist who specializes in wide smiles. Then train your tongue to rest completely on the palate to help prevent relapse.

It's impossible to say without see your mouth. There are few reasons the tongue looks scalloped. The tongue may be too large, or the tongue does not swallow correctly, or may something else is going on.

It depends on how your muscle function or lack of muscle function is affecting your mouth. Most people come to me for an assessment if they struggle with sleep issues, jaw issues, or teeth issues. Muscles are there to support the skeleton. IF your muscles cannot o something that might mean other muscles are compensating and that creates issues. The video has more explanation as how the muscles of the mouth affect the rest of the body. kzfaq.info/get/bejne/qdeAZal-2ZPKlqs.html

An adult's skull has stopped growing by age 12-14. To shift teeth an adult needs to see an orthodontist. My favorite orthodontists use the Damon Method for braces. You can go online to find out if there are Damon method providers near you. It would then be a good idea to work with a Myofunctional Therapist for a few months to retrain your mouth muscles so they don't push your teeth back out of alignment. 😊

Everyone is different, but many specialists are saying between 39-44mm. The most important thing is to have enough room for your tongue so it is not pushed into your throat, especially while sleeping.

I really enjoyed your video and the many tips and suggestions. Thank you! It's a whole new world to me. I was recently reading the book "Atomic Habits" and there was a suggestion to only jump into bed when you were ready to escape distractions and to actually sleep. That association creates opportunities to sleep easily when in bed.

Just so you know, humans also turn beta-carotene into vitamin A. Eating tonnes of fruits and veggies is really the best way to support your skin/collagen levels, because there are myriad helpful micronutrient complexes inside fruits and veggies that just don't exist in animal foods.

I highly recommend talking to an airway orthodontist or Vivos dentist provider if you need expansion. Orofacial Myofunctional Therapy (OMT) retrains the mouth muscles to support the skull. Just like all our skeletal muscles support our skeletons. However just like braces doesn't fix everything, they fix the teeth and should fix the jaw bone, but not the muscles. If the jaw bone is too small OMT isn't usually enough to fix everything either. The two go hand in hand.

@@headshouldersteethtongue8292I need upper palate expansion. I’m 44. Now. I do face pulling. Mew. But need more room for tongue. And not mouth breath at night. I have crossbite as well
@headshouldersteethtongue8292
@headshouldersteethtongue8292 6 ай бұрын
I just saw this message. Good on you for nasal breathing! and Mewing. What we think we know now is adults over the age of 25 don't make much elastin and so it is very difficult to get the skull to change just with Mewing. visiting with and airway focused dentist or orthodontist can help fix your cross bite and then working with an orofacial myofunctional therapist can help retrain your muscles to support those bone and teeth changes.

I am not a doctor so I don't diagnose TMJ disorders. TMJ specialists (dentists and other doctors) send their patients to me when they believe the joint strain or pain is caused by muscle disfunction or ankyloglossia.
