I was concerned to note that the outputs claimed by various manufacturers are not to a required specified standard , ie they can do their own tests rather than being obliged to use a British standard . Of course finding out who does test to British standard and who doesn’t is a pain . I have opted for what I consider very ugly K3 Stelrads as they do test to BS fir their outputs ,,would have like to have something far less intrusive for the heat pump change .

What is the 50 number in the calculations? Is it the temperature of the heating fluid ? Thanks!
@featureradiators
@featureradiators Жыл бұрын
Hi Donald, thanks for the question. The 50 is the Watts per cubic meter of heat being put into the room, so different rooms have different Watts per meter to be put in, for example the lounge is 50 as we are sitting and want to be comfortable. Whereas a hallway will have 30 Watts per cubic meter, we pass through and just want to create an ambient temperature. Hope that answers it for you. I have 3 x 1862H Silver Grey HotSping radiators in an Annex but am thinking of swapping them with some other vertical Rads Flat or Oval tube for higher heat outputs as whilst the HotSprings look good, they don’t heat the room sufficiently in deepest winter. Q. Do some colours of Rads emit more heat than others of equal size ? Eg I think Chrome emits less heat than Anthracite grey.
@featureradiators
@featureradiators Жыл бұрын
Hi Bob thanks for your message. Chrome does keep heat close to the product (due to the process of application), so it does not emit as well as finishes. I am sure you can increase heat with a finish on a radiator in the annex, we can help here please drop us an email at [email protected] or call 01274 567789, we will do a heat calculation on the annex to ensure you get the correct heat. @featureradiators
@featureradiators Жыл бұрын
Our camera has now been improved, we will re shoot this video. In answer to your question about traditional, regards output, a Watt is a Watt so a cast iron radiator or designer no difference. In respect to performance, the only difference is water content, designer radiators are generally lower and therefore have a quicker heat up time but cast will retain heat for much longer after the boiler has switched off. @featureradiators
@featureradiators Жыл бұрын
If the radiator output is more than the element which i expect from the description your radiator is maybe double the output then you will only get a mild heat, the element needs to be in line with the wattage of the radiator to heat it up in the same manner it would if on central heating. Hope that helps.

Hello, thanks for the info. For a standard, semi-detached house (I haven't calculated the BTU yet for each room), is aluminium the best for saving money long-term on energy bills? I've read it can save around 10% on bills compared with steel. Not sure if this is a marketing ploy or truthful. Any insight here? We can't afford copper or cast iron.
@featureradiators
@featureradiators Жыл бұрын
Thanks for the question Jonathan. Aluminium generally has a lower water content per radiator and thus you are heating up less water, therefore it should equate to less energy being used to get to the temperature, think boiling the kettle. Its not all one sided towards aluminium though, it's a less dense material and heat retention is lower once the heating system is turned off, i know from experience steel can feel hotter for longer after the heating is off. Lifestyle and your home (insulation) can play as much a party in gaining savings as could the choice between steel or aluminum and steel is generally cheaper than aluminium so does the 10% per year equate to savings over longer term once you factor in a higher price for aluminium. Sorry no cut and dry answer, happy to chat further - [email protected] or 01274 567789

Generally speaking a noise in a radiator is air in it, a radiator that is full of water only, could not make any noises. Other than air, it could be the rate the flow is travelling through the radiator and create a more woosh noise. Either of those would be plausible. The first point raised means trying to bleed the radiator of air, the second point means adjusting the flow ,which is a bit more involved and on the lockshield. Hi Brian, thanks for the positive comment. I would say so, you can put a thermostatic valve on that and it will regulate it but i expect you can find better value on a smaller size. 10% maybe 20% more on BTU would be fine to cover any eventualities. @@featureradiators The input temperature for BTU advertising is delta t 50 so input from boiler is 70°C. Which isn't the most economical output. Would it not be better to oversize all the radiators in a home to target most economical output temperature of 45°C for a condensing combi boiler?
@featureradiators
@featureradiators 2 жыл бұрын
@@rudejude87 Thanks for the comment. I believe i understand the point and i don't disagree, lower temps means more efficiency but major considerations here are cost of the radiators initially as they need to be much bigger and also space, generally people don't have the wall space to accommodate radiator sizes that mean the temp here would heat the rooms. Hi Tony, suppose it depends on the longevity of gas, govt. certainly moving people away from gas boilers and supply. At this moment both equally suitable.
