I use an iPhone 14 Pro Max. I love the phone itself, I simply wish Apple would really beef up the software and streamline more of the vision accessibility. Another thing I would love to see is a change in the form factor. I would really like to see a fold style iPhone. Bring visually impaired technology is my friend and to that end , devices are very expensive. Apple has invested a lot of time over the past few years really making the iPhone more accessible. A fold version of the phone would give me three devices in one, a phone, a hand-held video magnifier and a larger 7.5 or 8 inch magnifier in one device. If I buy things separately I and looking at $3500, an iPhone fold even at $2000 will save me $1500.

The Vision Pro was destined to fail but it’s not just one thing. It’s a compounding series of oversights and problems. It lacks clear direction. They tried to sell it as a “spatial computing” device. Meta tried to do this and failed with the Meta Quest Pro. The truth is the device is too uncomfortable and heavy for a full days work which is also compounded by the abysmal battery life. You’re right it also doesn’t have that killer app or use case. But by far the biggest oversight is not having controllers. Yes the eye tracking is top class but not having 6 axis controller support for games killed game development. You need more precise controls with feedback. That would have been an opportunity to drive the real and already established target market of VR enthusiasts, gamers. Then there’s the price point which could have been somewhat overcome if Apple had the traffic driving game the likes of Halo when the Xbox launched.

What if? Apple, like any other manufacturers, just makes the best version of their product to attract new consumers. Every year new people are being born. Therefore you have a base of potentially consumers. So you stop releasing a new version every year or every other year. People just buy the best of whatever they have. Then release a new version when you have that Revolutionary feature.

Apple is primarily a hardware company. They should continue with that, but innovate and create hardware that makes everyday life easier for humanity. They should create something that can impress us, that brings out the enthusiasm. The world doesn't need more entertainment. Apple has already moved into the health market with its watches. Apple has also acquired a lot of AI knowledge in the defunct car project. There are more and more elderly people in the world. What does an aging population need? They already have monitoring of health in the watch. What they then need is a robot that helps them in everyday life; get out of bed, pick up the mail, monitor that they don't fall in the shower, etc., etc. Apple should focus on this. Not because it is easy, but precisely because it is not easy. The market is huge.
