I'm going to be blunt: 2023 was not a very good year for Apple. Products were underwhelming, release schedules were confusing, and it seemed like Apple lacked some serious direction and drive for its 2023 lineup. Am I wrong? I'm going a little unfiltered in this video breaking down some of Apple's big mistakes for 2023 and why I hope 2024 is going to be a much better year. Apple Fanboys, prepare to be pissed...

I completely agree!! This is the first year I didn’t even consider upgrading my iPhone and I am concerned the next year’s model will be equally boring. I mean, why am I still waiting on a 10x zoom? Apple has great quality and I love the ecosystem, but it’s getting boring being an Apple user.

Okay, this is going to make me unpopular, but, I am going to stick up for Apple here. 2023 has been a difficult year for most companies big and small. We went through covid and other problems in past years. Manufacturing prices have gone up, wage cost has gone up, the cost of development and research has escalated. People may think that Apple and other blue chip companies have endless funds, trillions of cash in the bank etc but this is not always the case. We have seen the new M3 chip and other significant updates this year and yes, maybe there could have been more but a\t the end of the day, at what cost ? There have also been quite alot of developments in the IT arena and many more to come in 2024. This may have meant that Apple have been wanting to hold off for a while and take advantage of these developments. Ai is set to mushroom in 2024 and it will be vital to bring tech in line with this emerging software. Your argument is very one sided and maybe you should be asking for an interview with Apple to validate their current position within the market ?Get both sides of the story and a balanced presentation will follow..........

What other significant updates ? Other companies have brought new innovative products with covid affecting them even more . Quite a lot of It developments ? what are you talking about ? he gave you many examples of them doing the bare minimum with little innovation . They do this because they think they can get away with it . They know what apple sheep are You are a hard core sheep who is being one sided and sounding very typical. Apple is a trillion dollar company with every resource there is . What you're not getting is Apple doesn't care about satisfying customers just sales and marketing and profit. I mean Siri being what it is today , alone makes your reply ridiculous. I think you should really watch the video again

I used to be a huge Apple enthusiast, but you hit the nail on the head, I've never felt more underwhelmed by the innovation and offerings coming out of Apple. I've definitely put more consideration into switching brands recently. I'm still rocking the Iphone 12 and even the 16 rumors elicit a collective "Meh" reaction out of me. Though the thing that gives me pause is I have a lot of movies within the Itunes ecosystem that would suck to lose. Thanks for the honest assessment, definitely earned a sub. I'd grade Apple a "D" this year, zero innovation outside of their headset, which is niche and priced way beyond the average consumer's budget.

Does your current phone not serve you? What exactly do you need that Apple isn't able to offer? It seems like you're wanting more of a "wow" factor for a phone, than thinking about actual utility. This is the problem with the smartphone space. People want a to be life changing. It's just a phone.
@imperix668
@imperix668 5 ай бұрын
@@mrdereksutton It's not that I *need* something in particular from Apple, as Craig mentioned above, when Steve Jobs debuted the Apple phone in 2007, I don't think there was a large group of people indicating that they needed a singular device that provided internet, ipod functions, and phone capabilities, yet Apple showed people something they didn't even *know* that they needed, that's the hallmark of a good business, and the rest is history. The Iwatch was also revolutionary, but that was a long time ago too. Companies need to show you why you need their product, not the other way around, as it's been with Apple lately. My problem is, Apple no longer innovates, my Iphone 12 has some issues, the left speaker doesn't work, it sometimes won't charge wirelessly, so I need to plug it in physically. I'm their ideal target customer wise, I use my phone both for business and personal use, I have the financial means to upgrade every year, that's not a problem, the problem is the upgrades are so incremental that I have difficulty justifying throwing down funds to purchase something that looks like my phone from nearly 4 years ago and behaves and functions in the exact same manner, other than it takes USB-C, camera upgrades, and a new chip, I don't game on my phone, so it doesn't really bring value to me personally. So it's not a "WOW" factor that I'm looking for, it's a "VALUE" factor, and I just don't feel like the current phones are offering a whole lot of value. Which I realize this is subjective, you may find value where I don't, and that's awesome! For me though, it just hasn't been there, and that's why I've been on the sidelines for nearly four years, and I think a ton of other people have too, because they feel the same way, and business isn't booming for Apple at the moment. I think Apple needs to go back to its founding philosophy and start pioneering again instead of trying to refine and improve old technologies several years down the road that Samsung pioneered initially. That's why Samsung aficionados like to call us sheep, because we justify lining up and purchasing every Apple product, even if it's essentially the same product, and we convince ourselves we shouldn't expect anything that provides a wow factor or a significant improvement, just go buy it, it's a phone. I'd love to have a flip phone, I enjoy the real estate of my current screen, but I don't like having such a massive device lugging around in my pocket. I don't feel like that's a difficult ask from Apple. I don't own any Samsung devices outside of some home appliances, but in my opinion, completely objective, I do look at my co-workers devices and say to myself "man... that is so cool!" and I desperately want Apple to give me that feeling again. Anyways, that's my .002, hope you have a happy holiday my friend.

Honestly, I think it’s reviewers like you and others that raise expectations for WHAT you want from Apple. Apple listens to you guys, as you stated when you discussed pro apps, and no one cared but you and a small subgroup of users. They must stop listening to tech reviewers because they don’t usually speak for the everyday person and start listening to the day-to-day users. What Apple is missing a significant opportunity on is Apple TV and how your phone can be used to project FaceTime on your TV. They should be using commercials showing how easy it is to talk to your grandmother, college kids who are away, etc. I have been using it every day to talk to family. There is something so lovely about detaching your phone from your hand and putting it near my TV and having a focused conversation, which I usually didn’t do when I FaceTimed and had the phone in my hand. This could potentially boost Apple TV and phone sales.

It’s hard to improve something when it’s already so fantastic. How many people use Apple products? People don’t care about change for the sake of change. They care about having products that work, and meet the needs of the modern society. If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it. Make improvements in areas where there’s meaningful room for such. I have a feeling that their research and development is not geared so much towards phones, but towards the next big product (Apple glasses?).

Amen! I’ve been an Apple evangelist for 35 years. My client list once included premiere music labels, and Fortune 500 video production companies. The death of FCP and the dwindling professional use of Logic Pro has cost me 25 percent of my most “Mac devoted “ clients. Apple’s disregard and utter disdain for industry.’s uncontested graphic processing leader, nVidia, has turned the highest end developers and professional users away from the platform. When Apple has no clue where they’re going; they cannot expect high-end content creation companies to tell their stockholders “it’s all good! We’re just waiting on Apple… again!” Puget Sound is growing popular for an incredible, custom built, thermally modeled, dual nVidia flagship GPU, 256 GB RAM, 8TB SSD, (choose your multicore CPU) computer - costs less and offers far more than does the max’d out $10,000 iPad that is the Mac Studio (display sold separately for both). Like all good Apple sycophants, I haven’t yet given up on the company. When the company starts to impede my income? That’s a different story…

The only Apple product I would be willing to buy at full price and would happily use is if they remade the Airport lineup of wireless products. Apple, in the past, had the absolute best wireless routers, access points, and adapter cards. While that last option is thankfully no longer relevant due to the ubiquity of wireless adapters integrated into our devices, wireless routers and access points are still things that other companies struggle to get right. As for Apple's other stuff: it's fine. I would definitely use their computers if I could reasonably afford them, but the pricing is just a bit severe for the models I'm interested in. The one thing I'll never be interested in using for myself is their iPhones. Back in the day, the iPhone was legitimately interesting because it had THE best apps and the tech was very capable. Nowadays, with other companies offering such compelling products and the serious limitations of iOS, I just can't be asked to use an iPhone over an Android device. I loathe the paginated interface of iOS. It annoys me that the OS is so restrictive and prevents their users from customizing it to suit their preferences. Sure, they still have the best apps, but good luck if you want to emulate anything or you want to use different browsers by default, etc.

71st! The problem/issue we all are experiencing is that many of the Apple Products have reached "production stage" for the physical product. "Production Stage" is when given product has reached most of its "creation value of innovations" for which all ongoing updates/upgrades are minor as there is "extreme value" to the base of the physical product. This is why there are rumors that the iPhone is dead and there needs to be the "next new Smartphone device" by Apple. Samsung did this with their ongoing attempt of a Samsung Galaxy Smartphones with folding screen. There are many different reasons for each of Apple's product oines. I am sure that even though they already had the USB-C charging port on some of their iPads, there were some "issues to resolve" in making it work with their iPhone 15 release!

My first question to people who raise these complaints, what SHOULD they do? Make folding phones? Make a mini display on the back of the phone? Increase the charging speed? What is the solution here? You’re talking about the Apple Watch like there aren’t people out there rocking a series 3. You’re talking about Mac’s like there aren’t people on Intel, my mom has an iPhone 8, when she upgrades next year her mind is gonna be blown. Just seems like the guy who buys every Apple product the day it releases is tired of year over year updates instead of looking at people who use these devices like normal human beings. The year I upgraded from iPhone 12 Pro to 15 pro. That’s a B+ upgrade in my opinion, i got the action mode camera upgrade from the 14, Dynamic Island from 14 & all the upgrades to the 15, most importantly to me the action button as I use it as a quick remote to manage my smart home & a few other task. Upgraded my iPad Pro 10.2 inch to an M2 iPad. A+++++ upgrade, no explanation needed. Last year i jumped from the Watch SE to the 8. Another solid B+ upgrade. Lastly i upgraded my 2009 Mac Pro to a M1 Pro MacBook, an upgrade that quite literally still finds new ways to blow my mind with just how a computer the size of the main board of that computer is able to run complete circles around it without breaking a sweat.

Apple should allow both HomePods & Homepod mini’s working together for great surround sound experience” ipads are definitely fragmented, Apple should allow mac os on iPad Pro when keyboard with trackpad attached and ipad-os when used as tablet & make a ipad mini pro 9” with thin bezels, allow iPad’s to have phone functionality and connect to apple watch, iphone 15pro is actually a very good polished phone as it fixes issues of 14pro and is a great upgrade over 13pro or older (I do believe all cameras on 15pro should have been 48mp to have same clarity)

Never gonna happen. This is the best smartphone Apple ever created so it’s a huge comeback for them 😅. It’s funny the lengths resentful people like this guy will go to create doubts in weak, easily impressionable people’s head.

What really put me in a twist was discontinuing the MagSafe Battery Pack with no official explanation at all. When I found out what they did I rushed to buy a couple more and every single major retailer around me is out on stock. Same thing online. They'd better damned well come out with a suitable replacement.

Apple has been lacking meaningful innovation for quite a while now. I miss getting excited for great Apple tech, but I now just keep my iPhone, Apple Watch, iPad, etc until I am forced to replace them. Yawn

2023 was a flat year for everything, I don’t see anything great happening in 2024 either. Apple is in survival mode, the whole industry is. And it’s not just tech, automotive, everything seems to be in a state of “Stand By” because our disposable incomes are drying up because costs for everything are out of control. I suspect Apple is doing let’s just see what’s happening politically and which way the wind is going to blow in 2024, a lot of corporations seem to have the same plan. Im not expecting anything big in 2024 either, not until the political uncertainty stabilizes.

Apple has gone bananas with their "climate”, “environment”, “energy” and “vegan” fantasy obsessions. Plastic leather? I have been with Apple from the beginning, but now I am lukewarm.

Where Apple is really dropping the ball is with Mac. They’re alienating so much of the market by being greedy with their storage and RAM. Why on Earth would I buy an $1100 laptop with 256GB of storage. It can’t even back up my 512GB 12 Pro Max lol. Oh and don’t forget it only has 8GB of RAM like it’s 2012. A reasonable configuration in the year 2024 of 1TB of storage and 16GB of RAM, puts the M2 Air at $1700. For that price I can get an Intel i9 and RTX 4070 laptop with 32GB of RAM and 1TB of storage and it would absolutely mop the floor with the Mac. Oh and it can *actually play games.* There is nothing special about Apple’s storage or RAM. The RAM is literally just LPDDR5 soldered onto the chip package. The “unified memory” part of it simply means it can be accessed by both the CPU and GPU directly. The RAM chips themselves are no different than what’s in PC laptops. Their storage *really is not special at all.* You can buy a 1TB NVME drive with similar performance for only $50. Even the bleeding edge PCIE Gen 5 drives which read at 12,000MB/s (3-6x the speed of what Apple offers) cost $150 for 1TB. If Apple wants Macs to actually have a big market share, make every Mac by default come with 16GB of RAM and 1TB of storage by default without raising the price. They have something special with their silicon and they’re blowing their opportunity to put a massive dent in the market by kneecapping their base models. They could be at 50% market share by the end of the decade if they stopped.

Lets be honest apple don't really innovate anymore i would say its more evolution than revolution but i like to be fair Samsung has been recycling they designs as well. Samsung's designers themselves could probably not tell the difference between the s22 ultra and s23 ultra

Apple has a direction! Profit Profit Profit at a great margin! Apple users will buy anyway! They don´t look aside.... 60hz screen, 20w charge, usb 2.0 cable, no real zoom, 1h30min to fully charge a device.... Apple buyers don´t care....
