Thanks for video. Basically saving mine for landscape / portrait work. If I’m heading out for sports or wildlife, I’ll typically grab one of my Z9’s. I found the trigger response on Fuji to be a little sluggish. Trying to capture the peak of action, I would have higher success rate on Nikon. This may just be a learning curve where a little more practice will improve keeper shots. Thanks.

Thank you always for the great and very nice comment about camera and photo shooting Could you come to little bit about the video capability of gfx 100s compare to gfx 100ii about rolling shutter for example, is 100s much worse or 100ii much better ? Thank you

Footage looks incredible man! Good job! Do you know if its possible to shoot slow shutter like 1/4 or 1/8th? Slowest I can do is always limited by the framerate I am choosing. 1/60 with 60fps etc.

Thanks man, I honestly haven’t tried slow shutter yet but I’ll have a play and see if I can figure something out

I was hoping to find something on the difference in the viewfinder resolution. That will save me a trip to BNH New York . I can’t see how you could use the Fuji for serious video footage, as it only uses the full width of the sensor in 4K and for 4K only need 25 megapixels, so therefore it must be binning 75% of the pixels. Dreadful shame really. If you know anything about the viewfinder resolution, please let me know Thanks.

Hi Laz, your channel is pleasantly different - relaxing and informative. Thanks for that. With the GFX100s there are often problems with tethering. I see you are using a smallrig cage; can you tell me the brand of cable you are using? Do you have or have you had no problems with tethering? Thanks in advance and best regards from Cologne, Detlef

What kind of computer do you have for Capture One? I have a MacBook Pro M1 Max 64GB memory. But editing these 100mp images is so extremely slow. When I move the exposure sliders, for example, I sometimes see the effects very delayed, sometimes not at all.

Hi! I currently own a Sony A7RV. I am looking for a new video camera. I am considering the FX3. But I always wanted to buy a GFX Fuji... Now seeing the videos out of the GFX, I might buy one and use both for photos and videos... what's your thoughts on that? Can you help me? Do you think this camera is close enough to a RED, being better than a good sony slog3 422 10 bit? I would love to own a RED, but I mainly shoot by myself so no autofocus, the size and all the accessories you need to run it properly are too many drawbacks. I don't shoot any action or things that need crazy insane autofocus like Sony has, so I am really considering this GFX100s II...
@lazsmith2 ай бұрын
I have 3 REDs, have shot on the usual Sony FX6/FX3 etc and I do a lot of video and photo work on the same projects. In my opinion, this is the best hybrid camera out on the market at the moment. Absolutely love it
@carterphotography71707 ай бұрын
Thank you Laz for your observations and great summary. If been a working photographer for close to 40 years shooting 4x5 and 8x10 back in the day (always shooting Fuji film) and then transitioning to digital as it took over the industry. Like you I'm now a hybrid shooter, Canon 5DSR and R5. What I've seen coming out of this camera and the fact they introduced 2 new tilt shift lenses, which I use regularly, has made me consider making the change myself.
@olegcovian2097 ай бұрын
what are your thoughts comparing it with RED. Would be great to see a video testing both cameras;

I’ve used both extensively and also together in projects. I honestly love both, each have their strengths but I’d be happy to use either for any project, professional or otherwise

I never had a medium format camera and was about to get the GFX 100ii when they announced the Black Friday deal with a $1600 discount to the 100s. So with a price of $4,399 for the 100s the decision was easy. (I also own a Red Komodo, so I won't use video at all on the GFX). I have now used the camera for two days and loooove it! Who knows, I might upgrade to the 100ii in the future if I need the faster autofocus and improved ibis, but for now I'm super happy to get into the GFX world for under $4500!!!

Likely picking up the 100s . I have a sony a7s3 with a multitude of primes ranging from voigtlander, gmaster to odd ones like a sigma 105 1.4 which allow me to to do video. Also have my old school a7r3 for portraits and tiny x100v. The medium format fuji will be the camera for that something different that doesn't require speed

I think many underestimate just how much dynamic range this camera is capable of. Unlike most camera manufacturers, I believe Fujifilm was quoting actual usable dynamic range, when they said the GFX100 II had 14 stops. I’ve had mine since launch and love shooting with it. Enjoy!
@lazsmith9 ай бұрын
Totally agree. I know they’re saying ~13 stops but my experience would suggest at least 14+ useable

What resolution and bitrate were you shooting at/in? Try any of the other sensor scan modes, etc? Very interested to hear people's experiences with video on the 100 II... so few good examples out here on YT so far. Cheers.
@lazsmith9 ай бұрын
I shot in 4K/50p (I’m in Aus so I’m used to PAL settings for lights) in H.265 / 360mbps so not even the highest bitrate. I’m tempted to try ProRes LT and compare it to h.265 but it does use a lot more storage
@TylerMcCool9 ай бұрын
Could be a good comparison.. sometimes the higher bitrate is not noticeable for sure or better than lower ones in many normal situations.. and then youtube on top of that can be degrading to where one cannot see it also.. @@lazsmith
