The plumbers putty doesn't replace the washer. The washer goes in between the tub and the drain shoe.

Yes, you are correct about washer under tub. there was an existing washer underneath tub to pvc from a previous install so I left it. I should have mentioned that because it did cause confusion.

Great Video but I encountered a bump in the road. The gas line from the gas valve to the burner has left hand threads on my propane water heater. It took me a minute to figure that out. From the video it looked like your demo had right hand threads. Thanks, keep up the good work.

As someone that works doing mechanical insulation and firestopping in Arizona, if an inspector sees fire block foam on a site, they will fail it immediately. Its generally known here that fire block foam doesnt actually have a fire rating or adhere to any fire rating systems. At best you can hope for moderate sound attenuation and a few minutes of smoke barrier

Building Code is minimal. BP- best practice or BAT- best available technology. Seems like you could have centered it half an inch down to get it even with the siding then. There are many better exhaust hoods, stainless, plastic less protruding, color matching, sprayed painted to color matching to the siding. Run rigid insulated pipe or again minimal insulated duct for moisture and mold. Stainless screws and color caulking anything but white. I do it right or don't do it at all. End of story.

Not a fan of running all the cables through one hole if for no other reason than the difficulty of fixing an issues found in an inspection. With everything going electric, also does seem like a heat risk over time if that romex degrades at all

Yea I would have split that into two at the very least. We can assume the panel is directly below that, so why not have half enter the left side of the panel and half enter the right, they probably do already on the lower floor, should have kept it for the floor to floor running too.

I know the first thing my local inspector(s) will question & more than likely make us relocate is that abundance of NM Cable crowded on what looks to be like an entrance to a chase or raceway. I can hear it now… “do you how much heat that will create when those homeruns start getting real loads on them, then there is no way for those conductors to dissipate heat.” Looks clean but I learned the hard way, gotta make it clean while following you’re current NEC that you’re local city / town follows when permits were initially pulled. Don’t know what state thats in but most of Northeast doesn’t allow non insulated cable staples unless its old work that you can prove its old then it’s grandfathered in. Keep up the good work.

Hello, I have a question. I already have copper tubing connected to the fridge. I began having a leak, so shut the valve off. But somehow, I still have some water leak( not a major leak), I have been collecting the water coming down from the freezer section down to the refrigerator section. Does this mean my water valve is faulty? That is the only thing I can think up. My fridge is 20 years old, and I am ready to replace it. I want to address the problem correctly. Thank you.
@vinnythehandyman
@vinnythehandyman 23 күн бұрын
The shut off valve may be OK. It could be leaking from the top plastic tubing that goes to the water maker and ice machine. If the leak is up top that means it’s flowing downward to the copper piping. What I would do is wrap a small towel or paper towel around the waterline that goes to the refrigerator on the backside And then see if your copper piping is leaking both at the same time leaking process of elimination first.

Why use Romex and not conduit? The mice chew Romex
@Anytus2007
@Anytus2007 Ай бұрын
Running hundreds of feet of conduit is expensive; would probably double the cost of the job through increased material costs and the additional labor of routing it. Not to mention that US-based architects and engineers will not be designing with having to accommodate conduit in mind, so you may run into conflicts with framing and other mechanicals. Except in very specific circumstances (mostly Chicago), residential interiors do not use conduit and builders and homeowners would almost never accept a bid that uses it because it would be WAY above what they expect to pay.
